I recently purchased a used Vewlix from someone locally and made the stupid mistake last night of locking myself out of the control panel. I flipped the panel down while I was trying to adjust the inherited key lock that had a short lever (which doesn't move the locking bar left/right adequately). After a few hours of trying to move the locking bar with my hand through the service hole at the bottom of the panel, I was able to get only one side unhitched, but the left side is still stuck somehow. :(

I plan on drilling out the lock later tonight when I get home but figured I would check here to see if anyone has had a similar issue before or any ideas, thanks! So annoyed at myself...

Welcome!

I'm having trouble envisioning the situation entirely. Still, I can imagine how the locking bar could become caught on an unsecured cable. Forcing it could sever the cable. Can you fit a phone camera + flash through the service hole to see what's going on? With visibility, a semi-rigid wire (metal clothes hanger etc.) might let you scoot something free.

Is it an original/contemporary lock, or a new one that's easy and cheap to replace?

I had to reference a photo from my own Vewlix to try to visualize what's going on:

Once I populated the panel and filled it with USB encoders, Lemony USB/JVS combo harness, etc., I had to be careful to tie everything down clear of the locking bar-- and I still feel like I'm living dangerously.

Thanks - I didn't think about the cables potentially getting in the way, but will try to take a quick video as you suggested. The below is a picture from before showing the short lever that I ended up rotating downwards by 90 degrees to sit inside the bracket to see how much it could move.

I suppose it is possible that it is caught on some of the wiring on the left side which is where it is currently stuck, but the likely issue is that the lever is catching the locking bracket just enough to not fully free up the left side.

I believe the latch can move between 7 and 10 o’clock based on feeling around there, and needs to move just a bit more to allow the sliding bracket the clearance it needs.

The lock/lever is held by a philips screw that needs to be removed.

My friend has a ratcheting screwdriver set that I am going to borrow tomorrow….so will delay any exciting drilling for another day.

I couldnt get any useful video with my phone and dont want to risk dropping it inside, which will definite happen knowing my luck so far, lol.
