What's new
Check with a tester for continuity. Installing a simple wire should fix. They to see if someone near you can do it, if you don't feel like with confidence to do a proper job.

Hello,

My darksoft doesn't load games, at any game the ST-V says "error" and loops on the ST-V logo with the little music. With an official game like Tecmo World cup 98 & Decathlete it works.

I did several tests with my Darksoft as recommended, here is the list of things I did:

- I soldered the 2 SH2 (even if I had already done it 1 year ago)
- I changed my SD card by one, sandisk 16GO SD HC, I checked at the beginning without formatting it that it was in FAT32, it did not work, so I formatted it with a long formatting and with the software SD formater. I had a SD card of the same brand in SD HC but 32GB.
- I tested with and without the multi selector
- In the attachment of my message you will see the picture of my installation, everything is connected as per the manual
- I checked all the connections with a continuity test

No matter what I do Darksoft always does the same thing, I select a game (with the multi selector or the jumper directly) it loads the game because I see the second green LED light up. During this time the screen is black or it puts me directly "error press test". As soon as the green LED goes out I press the "reset" button on the ST-V card and I see the bios being launched with the continents "Europe, USA, Hong Kong" and then with numbers and directly the SEGA logo in error.I would also like to point out that I never have a "loading" or "end loading" sound when I load a game because the sound of my ST-V works and the thread is soldered in the right place

The only thing I don't have compared to many is a multibios (which I ordered it should arrive this week).

At the end of the week a friend is coming with another official game and a ST-V multi game card but no Darksoft to test. But according to me my DarkSoft card has a problem...

Knowing that I only plugged it in last week, even if I received it 1 year ago because it was a gift from my wife but I couldn't play it before and it was kept in its transport bubble with the transport box well closed in a dry place and not in a wet place.

Would you have a solution or a clue, I confess to having tested everything that has been said on this forum...

Why do you have to press reset button? There is a cable that does the RESET for you as explained in the instructions.

Also, did you change the configuration from type of cabinet? when you go into the service mode, does the name of the loaded game show between brackers [ ... ] ?

I have to because at the end of the loading process I just have a line at the bottom of the screen that says "error press reset to exit" and when I press it it reboot and I see the bios

I just tested what you asked me and no matter what game is loaded it never appears in the service menu at the top, at the top it just says "ST-V SERVICE MENU" then I have the buttons hardwars test, ram test" etc...

I just formatted the 16GB SD card to 4096KB bytes for the data, it doesn't change anything and I still don't have any loading sound or end of loading sound, but the ST-V sound works and I have the music from the ST-V menu or the official games

Little information but I don't know if it changes anything, my ST-V motherboard has been completely Capkit as well as the big capacitor next to the battery, and the battery has been changed too

Please test with the other motherboard of your friend and if it still doesnt work, you can send it to me.

No worries, I'll ask my friend to come along but it will be Friday night. I'll give you an update on Saturday morning while I do the tests. Thanks again and sorry for the inconvenience.

I think so, I followed the instructions and youtube videos. Attached to my message are the screenshots of the SD card

Hello,

Yesterday my friend came with this ST-V, Radiant Silvergun and a MOD cartridge other than Darksoft (something bought on ebay a long time ago with a switch on the card). I first tested Radiant on my ST-V and it ran without any problems, then I tested this mod cartridge as well without any problems.

I soldered a wire to the ST-V (the reset pin 8 wire) and put jumper on a random game on the Darksoft ST-V, I turned on the terminal, the game started to load and then directly "error press reset" I press reset and the ST-V runs in a loop. I change the order of the jumper, it reloads and same thing. The Darksoft didn't work on this ST-V too.
My friend's ST-V has an official JAP bios, and on mine in the meantime I got the multibios and it didn't work any better :(

The thing that seems strange to me is that when I put radiant silvergun back on my friend's ST-V after testing the Darksoft, the game wouldn't start and we had to wait for 10 minutes around the terminal to be turned off so that during our next test the game would start. It's as if Darksoft made the ST-V's RAM memory corrupted...

In attachment the pictures of the ST-V with the Darksoft and the error message.

@Darksoft can you fix the Darksoft ST-V card please? Thanks to you.
We can see all this in PM if you want

Hello Darksoft just wanted to ask a few questions regarding the multicart. I've had it for 2 years now, and last used it a month ago, and it was working fine. Now it isn't booting up games at all. I use a supergun to play my stv, and have a working cart of Virtua Fighter Kids that still boots up. I have reformated my same sd card that has worked since I purchased the cart, and used others to the same result. Tried updating the flash too with no new results; however once I redid my sd card, and tried booting up Asta Superstars it worked for about 3 matches in then it froze. I haven't been able to boot up again since, it only goes as far as the bios screen, and patent numbers right before it boots up and stays in a black screen, and sometimes after changing the jumpers the cart won't properly switch to the next game, and even sometimes the screen will lose video even with the pcb, and supergun still running. I don't have a spare stv mobo, so I can't try it on another board so any advice will be well appreciated. Sorry to bother..

Power up your stv mobo with the service button pressed and you'll go to the diagnostics menu. To me the problem is clearly coming from your mobo.

Yes sir u were right. IC 1,2,3,4,5,6, and 13 are all bad. Not to thrilled, but things tend to break. Can I purchase these chips online to replace or would it be better to just get a new mobo?

Do the same test with your original vf cart. Those errors are cart related.

Yes, what mitsu said. And it makes me think that the peoblem is, as usual with your SH2 processors.

Those are cartridge errors. Hold down one of those 2 small buttons on the PCB during power up to enter factory diagnostics... Run the Slave CPU test and report back.

Alright just did, and thanks for the response. This is what I got without a cart on the pcb.
