One PVM 20M4E doesn't sync with Vulcan Venture, the other PVM 20M4E does.

It's Vulcan Venture that behaves like that. I also noticed on Mister that System18 does the same.

But on my other PVM which is the exact same model everything works. Is there any fine adjustment in the service menu that would help?

My first guess would be the sync separator circuit. Small component drift is enough to make one chassis more picky about marginal sync than another identical one.

Interesting. I as well thought something drifted. Well, I made it tate since all shmups run on it and the other one for horizontal stuff.
