Hello first time posting here and delving into the world of arcade machines :D.

I've recently been tasked with seeing if its possible to get two outrun 2 cabinets to work and refurbish them. They are in a side by side configuration with the coin box between the two cabinets. I have gotten one to load up to the network hand shake where it is the looking for the second cabinet but unfortunately the second cabinet is displaying error 21 and wont go past that point. On this machine i have tried the GDROM drive from the other cabinet and its power and data cables but to no avail. Does anyone else have any ideas or is it likely that the chihiro unit itself has died?

Now my other issue is that these machines came from an amazon fulfillment warehouse break room via another recycling company and at some point some one has removed the cables linking the VTS board in the coinbox to the machines..... I have searched multiple places looking to see if i can find the connecting cables but there nowhere to be seen. If there aren't any replacement cables my option is to either make up a new cable assuming i can find the correct connectors or solder together what i have to make a working cable. For this i will need the Pin out for the board and male connector that plugs into the back of the cabinet. I will likely mount the VTS board under the seat of the working cabinet as the plan is that if can get one to work it will go into my works break room set up for infinite credits making the conbox surplus to requirements.

If someone has the pin outs or even pictures of the linking cable/cables between the coinbox VTS board and the rear cabinet female connectors i would be very grateful.

With the use of a multimeter and a variable power supply i've made a fairly good bit progress working out what wire does what, to the extent ive been able to get into the test/service menu and then into the game itself.

As you can see from the pictures below its a bit of bodge job as im just working it out once i 100% no the pin out ill solder everything up properly :). Also im creating a spreadsheet with the plugs and pin outs that i will make available to anyone that needs it.

Hey, nice job. Do you have more to share? I`m trying to restore one, and the wiring its a big pain. i haeve rescued a twin from the yunk and have a lot of missing parts.

I've restored a few of these over the years, but alll my resto threads were on a forum that is now in internet heaven.

The schematic in the manual is useful and pretty accurate if you have a UK built cab.

Yaton sells complete wiring harnesses for Outrun 2 cabinets (they also work with Initial D as well)

It's a shame that this content is no longer available, it would have been really helpful for me to move forward. My real problem is that I bought two dismantled cabins and now I have to figure out where each thing goes, without being the one who disassembled them. I have been buying components and cables trying to figure out where everything goes. I have the wiring manuals, but in some cases they don't specify the colors, and in other cases it's not entirely clear to me where some of the connection plugs go.

Just in your last photos from here, I saw one of the cables I have doubts about, which is an orange ones.
I leave you a link to my restoration post that I am going to start updating again since I am resuming the project (now 4 years in this cabs) . It has been long and tedious. Link: https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/sega-outrun-2-restoration.17455/

I think i have more or less all i need for Master cab. Then, i will start again with Slave one. Thanks ;)

i was fortunate to have a master cab and i just "copied" the wiring and parts to make another master instead of converting ti to a slave
