Want To Buy
If you've looked everywhere, why did you make an account here on a-p just to ask for dongles? Seems really fishy. I can think of at least two other places where people who might actually care about what you want to do would be, and that you would also already have an account with. Is there some reason you came to ask here where someone might not object to what you want to do? It seems to me if you wanted the people elsewhere to benefit, they'd want to provide.

All of this just sounds like you're trying to get away with something. This is an enormous red flag. There are better ways to go about things.
I want to be anonymous? If I were able to post this thread on the other sites without revealing my identity, I would have.
If you feel you need to be anonymous then you obviously don't feel what you're doing is right.

Or at least it SURE comes off that way.

The exporter I buy my cabs from doesn't sell any of the newer games with keys. The older, out of date games are fine. I'm not saying Konami doesn't care, it's just that they won't pick fights over games that aren't current.

Besides if everything was so hush-hush, @Cereth wouldn't be importing cabs out in the open. I don't see the difference between selling full cabs and selling keys. Do you do background checks on all your buyers?

As a collector, personally I would prefer people keeping keys with their original cabs. Then again, I hate the idea of parting out anything.

the games cannot be run with dongles without official network anyway.
This isn't true. The people that run one of the community servers actually prefer if you have original HW with encrypted software. The server details are patched in.

However, this is all moot. Like Cereth said, all of the games have been dumped at this point.

Thanks for putting together a better post, I can respond to this a bit better.

There has been things changed in the last week, otherwise I wouldn’t care either. Right now even old dongles need to be secure. I’m willing to discuss in private if you really need it. Your exporter needs to stop providing dongles, and you need to get over wanting people to get dongles. I held out until this Fall under the same desire for people to get them with their cabs, but I’m not risking everything over that pleasure anymore.

There is one server using SSH, but it’s not really common practice. I can’t really discuss how things are going with that though, and a lot of paradigms are shifting right now. We are ALL in direct contact with each other right now, it’s not likely in the near future that it’s going to be a common practice.

FWIW first thing I did before responding to this thread at all was bring this to the attention of the group, and all the anonymity you’re seeking is probably doing you more harm than just being straight with who you are and why you’re doing this. Now is a really, really bad time for new people to be poking into this stuff

People shouldn't need your approval (or exporter) to sell something that belongs to them. When someone purchases a cabinet with dongles, they own the dongles too. If you don't want people selling dongles then you shouldn't have sold them in the first place.
What's with the unnecessary fear mongering?

Probably something similar to the unnecessary identity hiding.

I do agree with your first line, actually. If it's sold to someone, it's kinda theirs to do whatever they want with. In this instance it seems to be a pretty bad idea to do that, but really and perhaps unfortunately, it's their property.

Just because you're not privy to some reasoning doesn't mean it's unnecessary.

If you'd just asked very nicely over on the piracy forum (in fact, I went out of my way to do it myself, feel free to second the request) you'd probably already have a copy of at least the game you keep saying you want. idk why you think all this cloak and dagger business is necessary. No one's been crucified for asking for a game before.

I was using Silent Scope Bone Eater as an example (it's already been requested), and there are many people on the site who are aware of the request and are able to fill it, and chose not to (I have a couple of guesses as to why, but that's not for this thread :) )

This post just outlines your ignorance of consequences.

Agreed. That’s why my policy in this instance is related only to the sales policy of myself and other concerned distributors. I’m not going to attack anyone for doing it, but I’m not going to trust them again either. It’s their right to do what they want with what they have, it’s mine to deny service to them. Something wrong gets done with those dongles and something happens because of it, you can be sure that you’ll probably lose more than just imports. That’s all. Regardless what you can do with what you have, trust isn’t bought and sold. The reason we’re here in the first place is because some idiot abused what they had. Ownership does not equal responsibility

I asked, it’s not fulfilled because tools aren’t done. You aren’t doing anyone any favors but yourself. Having a release now, 6 months from now, a year from now won’t make a difference to anyone.

???
What are the consequences of owning dongles?

And if the game was released publicly, maybe somebody independent could make "tools". Again, Silent Scope Bone Eater was just an example, there are a LOT of undumped games. Hope it's not a half-assed dump with unused content removed.
I want dongles.

I’m done, continue at your own risk. You are connected enough that you can just ask for this stuff. The people you associate with literally have all the dumps. If you want to contribute, work with them, not against them.

I don't have connections.

Please don't lie. Because like I've said again and again, you keep making yourself look more and more shady.

If no one else knows you have connections: I do. So start acting right, dude. And stop lying. It only discredits you.

Everything I have is from yahoo auctions and asking cabinet owners in private, do those count as "connections"?
edit: I've deleted the OP.

You were invited to the piracy forum by an admin... You have more of a connection than most.

I still don't recall seeing loose drives on yaj, they almost always come with dongles. And you could ask the same people who lent/sold/gave/whatever the drives to you for the dongles. You'd only need them for a very short time if you know what you're doing anyway, yeah?

How I got onto the piracy forum has nothing to do with this. I'll PM you there.

It proves you have at minimum that connection: that's the point I was making.

I don't actually care whether this game or that gets shared. The more the merrier IMO. And while there's definitely legitimacy to the concern for what happens with dongles in light of recent events: it ultimately isn't my fight to fight.

But what does bother me, for whatever reason, is the dishonesty and the weird cloak and dagger bit. It just seems so silly. You have people you could ask for said decrypted data, you could even just publicly request it. Or just buy a kit on YAJ, or. or. or. And instead it's make an alias, post on a forum that's honestly *less* likely to get what you need, and only ask for the keys instead of everything.

No one would have batted an eye at "I'd like to buy game X", and then you decrypted it, made some line about how you "couldn't get it to work without the actual cab, maybe someone else can, so I'm selling it for what I'm into it." and had it with nothing out of pocket.

The whole thing just does not make any sense logically. If anonymity and no one finding out what you were doing was the aim, this was very poorly thought through. And it seems to me that there wasn't even any need for that to begin with.

I do find it curious though as to why you want everyone to trust you that you have a need for anonymity, but you won't trust them that the game has changed and Konami now cares about where these dongles have ended up. Trust is a two-way street.

No, there are no connections. I explained the situation in a PM on the piracy site. I do not have people who will just give me what I want or else I wouldn't have made this post in the first place.
Maybe it was poorly thought through, I'm not sure.

Please trust me it was.

But you didn't even try on the forum where you'd actually get results. I don't get it. Just say "Hey, does anyone have this thing I'm after?" and see what happens. It's called a community for a reason. Maybe try trusting in it?

Cool down period. Looks to me like some people don't want competition. The old same story.
