What's new
My order had eproms with missing, rusted or dirty pins.
Yikes! It's definitely getting harder to find good sellers for these chips. I order mine from chinese resellers on Ebay but you've got to pay attention to reviews.

@twistedsymphony : which Xeltek did you get?
I have a Xeltek SuperPro 580U, it's a discontinued model and was replaced with the 610P

The first few times I bought 27c322 I got them in a grey plastic bag, without any protection. I usually had to spend some time to untangle the chips and straighten the legs.

This is how i received -all- of my aliexpress chips. (shipped around the world ...). Chips are stacked on each other and foil is wrapped around the whole block. - And of course all were "tested" by the seller :D

Looks like you got a free pubic hair with your chips. NOS.

Same, this is how they always end up for me.
They are usually erased, but not always.
Obviously scavenged.

Ok, I have read the full assembly and troubleshooting thread and completed a detailed check on component prices. As a result I now have an update and pricing for completed carts. I want to thank @Orakelschaf for his input, as you will see he was correct on all accounts.

I will limit the build to a total of 20 completed carts for now. If I am not sick of building them and people still want them I may do more but I also may not.

Each cart will consist of Fluffy's 2 board set fully assembled with all parts. All ROMS/EPROMS will be soldered NOT socketed (no exceptions). I will build a fully socketed test cart without a shell and once written I will test the ROMS before soldering. DDPDOJ will have a switch not sure yet how I'll do this as I am not 100% happy with any solution to date but I'll post some options as I play with it.b

Each cart will come with a PLA 3d printed cart shell in some sort of red. I have test printed them in a solid color and they come out nice, but I would like to try clear red and a metallic red as well, before I make a decision. I'll post photos here so everyone can have their say on cart colour.

Each cart will also come with professionally printed metalic EPROM and spine stickers. These are not the ones floating around but a design I have put together. I did this because the printer was not happy with the resolution of the other ones not because i wanted to, but i tried to make the best of it. I only have DDPDOJ completed as I needed it to get a quote but the other 2 are comming soon. These are available to people as either just a sticker set or as a set with a blank pcb order for between $7-10 a set (10 eprom stickers and 1 spine sticker) but only before the order goes in. For some reason I couldn't attach the pdf of the EPROM stickers so I attached a jpg.

I will only be doing the 3 cave shmups.
And now the sticky bit, while I tried to keep the costs to as close to a Sheep Nova cart as possible, the best I could get them to was $175usd for an indication cart and $500usd for a 3 cart set, plus shipping (around $20-30 depending but I will confirm this soon).

This should give everyone a clear price for both the blank pcbs and completed carts. I'll start an interest list in the next day or two and with the interest so far I expect to put in a pcb order on the 2nd or 3rd week of January I'll confirm this also.

Might be time to move to flash roms! TSOPs aren't too bad to solder at all, and adapters exist for a lot of different eproms thanks to NES/SNES conversions among other things.

You don't need a switch to change between black and white label if thats what your trying to do with DDP.... @iq_132 Already made a program rom with the original menu that lets you select which one you want to play.
I looked this up when I read your post, and I am much more satisfied with a menu. Thanks.

only one who need the switch is ketsui (where we have 2 versions … one is original and the other one is Trap14’s arrange version)

I'll probably need to update my one as I only have black label

That's awesome!
How long do you estimate orders will start shipping?

Once the boards get arrive (typically 2 weeks after I place an order) I'll start putting them together. The first few i expect will ship a few weeks after that and I'll be aiming to get 3-5 out a week until there all done. So my aim would be to have them all out by the end of march to mid April.

And they seem to keep increasing in price regularly at the same time as the quality drops off. I have not purchased any in a while as I needed an adapter for my writer and only just got one but they must have gone up x5 in price since I last did.

Yeah may have gotten some of the information scrambled. There is a lot to read in those threads. Basically the idea would be to do both black and white and the 2 version of Ketsui on those carts, with the best current solution.

That's exactly why I'm suggesting moving to something that is still in production. Prices don't move much (even if slightly more expensive than used eproms), and quality is, well, new! Plus PCBs in the chip adapter size range will run something foolish like $15 shipped for 50.
