A few days ago my Naomi 2 started giving an Error 34, and I noticed the Pi 2 I use to netboot was stuck with a red led. I pulled the 16GB SD card, reimaged, and received the same result. I grabbed a Pi 3 and gave it another shot with with the same result. Since then, I've verified the Naomi 2 is working properly by netbooting with my laptop. I've tried different SD cards, a micro SD with an adapter, two different power cables, and have even used both Win32DiskImager and Etcher to write the image. I've also tried both Partition Wizard as well as AOMEI for moving the Ext4 partition to the end of the card and extending the boot partition across unallocated space. I decided to give the PiForce Web image a go on the 2 and I still have the same issue, solid red light.

Stumped and looking for ideas.

Pi3 gave you the red led?

I can't provide much help except that the piforce image I use doesn't work on Pi3 and some late model Pi2s (which doesn't solve your problem on your Pi2 but may be the answer to why Pi3 doesn't work).

Another problem I faced which was time-consuming to discover is that the sd card locking mechanism was failing and the card would pop out after awhile. So double check that. It's a long shot but maybe the sd card slot is busted on both your Pis. Sounds like the problem is going to be something unlikely and goofy like that though.

Yes both the 2 & 3 refuse to boot, solid red light. I can pop in a card with the RetroPie image and either will load it though. I’m thinking it has to be something I’m missing with the setup of PiForce Tools. It’s odd though because I’ve reimaged cards before with v1.5 and haven’t had a problem.

Indeed. The Pi 2 is hosed and the 3 I was using was actually a 3b+, which apparently doesn't work with PiForce Tools. A new 3B and everything has returned to normal. The Naomi 2 & Netboot setup has to be one of the most temperamental setups out there. Every time I turn it on I hold my breath.
