WTB Possible trade for fighting game cabinet

Want To Buy
I’m not following could you please clarify? The dude I got it from said some games are too new for him to put on there as he can only put games that are deemed open source I don’t know if either game falls into that category… but then again it has ps1 games on it so yeah.
As others have said, you can re-fit this to be whatever you want it to be. The controls and set-up is all there, you just need to replace the brain.
Whether it be with original hardware, or another beefier PC running mame, or a Pandora's Box. or a mister. or rasp pi.... Whatever you choose, you don't need to get a specific "fighting game cabinet" when you already have this one that can be modified for your needs.

Define garbage emulation. Do you have examples? :)
Pandora's boxes are pretty trash, old pc's running batocera are pretty trashy. (to me anyway)

but i started like you, lcd multicab. got my first vewlix but because of the type of cab it is, i had to go emulation there with a Taito TTX3 with the Artax image which emulates lots of actual arcade boards, so that was ok emulation. real work went into setting that up. then i was able to get the jamma kit for the vewlix then i got a CPS2 board with a mod called Darksoft which lets you erase the game in memory and load up, so theoretically you're emulating the game but its on real arcade hardware, same with my cps3 system, Neo Geo MVS i have a vortex card which has the full library on it but again it's on the real hardware. think of these like a ODE on a playstation with the roms on an SD card, same thing with an FX Pak PRo on SNES or ever drive on n64. you have the games in rom format but playing them on the actual system so its more authentic.

I don’t know how to modify it. I’ve never dove into something like this.

I see. Thanks for the feedback. Honestly if I tried to do what you did I’d break my stuff. Props to you!

I can tell you're younger than most of us here. I've been building PCs since I was a teenager—over 30 years ago—and I've been tinkering with electronics for just as long.

The only way to learn is by doing. You might break something along the way, but the journey is about learning how to fix it. Once you learn to do something, you don't have to rely on anyone else (unless they have the tools you lack—in which case, asking is okay). Until then, just keep tinkering.

There are plenty of videos showing how to build an arcade cabinet and numerous software tutorials on how to load images onto Raspberry Pis for emulation. For now, if that's all you have, use it and enjoy it. When you're able to afford something you truly want, come here and ask for assistance in finding it. Everyone here is pretty helpful, but with forums like these, many questions have already been answered. Try to do some research on your own, and chances are you'll find the answer you seek.

This is the place to learn.

I say this all the time you are going to own an arcade cab, you should learn the basics of how to operate it.
Arcade ownership is not just about playing games like a console system. There is upkeep and there is troubleshooting.
You’ll need to knowledge-up on at least the basics of how arcade cabs work. Like I said, this is the right place to learn and ask questions.
But you were already given your first piece of advice: open up the back and post pictures of the insides here so we can give you more advice.

Maybe this isn’t my knack then. I’m not at the machine right at the moment unfortunately.

Maybe this just isn’t for me.

Yeah I am. I feel overwhelmed and stupid. I never grew up doing stuff like this. So I need you all to be patient with me.

Hey man, there is no need to feel stupid, everyone has to start somewhere. The thing is you can't live your life being scared to learn new things. This, as in many things in life requires faith in yourself and then taking a leap of faith. you might not be able to figure it out right away but eventually you will learn and things will click. have faith in yourself.

we all started somewhere and look at where people are today. you think Darksoft knew what he was doing when he created his first product? you think it was perfect, of course not. you set a goal and you work towards that goal, sometimes it takes days others it takes years. everyone learns at their own pace, so buck up and just do it man (insert shia lebouf gif just do it here)

Ok. Are you all woodcutters or millionaires or something lol? Maybe I’ll start with something smaller.

It all depends on the person, I think it ranges in what people are looking for out of this hobby. There are people that have been in the industry since it was at it's peak and others getting into it long after the fact.

I got into the hobby in 2019 when I was 15 lol, I'm now 20 and I'm also working at a pinball/arcade repair shop. It takes countless hours of research and tinkering like others have said. In regards to spending money, many of us have probably found parts/games/cabs locally and we see how far we can go with what we got. I have found the people in the hobby are also some of the most helpful people there is, most are more then happy to help even with things that seem like simple/stupid questions. Trust me I've asked my fair share of questions that I could be considered common sense. If there is certain games/tech you're looking to get advice about, asking around/looking up manuals goes a long way as well.

At the end of the day if people aren't willing to teach others then the hobby is going to die in the near future.

lol im not saying build your own cab, although there is lots of videos on how to do that with hand tools. but you have a cab already, you can easily convert it.

take pictures of the inside and post them in the thread u got already, i know you're on vacation and wont be back but that is the first step of people here helping you on your journey.

It’s not easy for me. Ok I’m going to level with you I couldn’t understand seemingly basic things in stuff like computer science what makes you think I’ll understand this lol?

I just need a bit to breathe. I’m already getting shit from another user in a different thread for asking if something that was for sale years ago is still for sale.
