I am in the United States and I recently received a Capcom Mini Cute from Mexico but I am having an issue getting it to work. When I plug it in and turn it on, it disables like half the power outlets in my house and I have to reset the GFCI.

I am testing with arcade PCBs that I know to be working. The issue seems related to the monitor. If I disconnect the monitor from the power supply and turn on the power supply with game PCB connected, I get audio. But when the monitor is connected, that’s when the problem happens.

If running the cabinet trips circuit breakers then you have a short on the AC power side. It sounds like you isolated it to the monitor. Take a look at the monitor chassis to see if the live and neutral are shorting.

I’m a little paranoid about messing with the monitor due to safety, and I don’t really know what I’m doing. Is there a way I can check this safely?

Here’s some pictures

That's a universal chassis by Wei-Ya. It needs an isolating transformer, which you probably don't have. Normally Mini-Cutes come with Sanwa chassis and they don't need one.

Can you take a picture of the bottom part of the cab?

Would this be a good guide to wiring in the isolation transformer?

In this case you already have AC wires going to the monitor. You just put the transformer in between. Which wire is hot and and which is neutral doesn't matter.

But sure, if you're doing the wiring from scratch, then yes, that diagram looks good.

I have this same issue with my capcom Mini Cute and I'm using the Original Nanao Chassis.

I don't believe it requires an ISO and it shuts off my breaker instantly as well.

I had another PSU from my Hursit Cute and swapped it out JIC and it still did this. After taking my monitor out and plugging it into AC 120 by itself it did not shut off the breaker.
