I've been trying for days to get my CPS2 multi to work but always the same problem. Every time I run a game I get a solid brown/reddish color screen.

Rev 6 board with the G PAL I got with my kit. Also tried with the original F Pal and wire.

- Tried 3 different sd cards, 4gb and 2gb, transcend, kingston and samsung. Reformatted and copied over each time with SD Formatter using the zip file posted on this forum.
- Unplugged and replugged in each board several times. I can not get these any tighter.
- One pin tip was broken on the main board, but I soldered on a replacement and checked for continuity.
- I tried booting without the interconnect board connected and of corse it does the same thing. As suggested here I have made sure it is tight, no daylight or gap between the connections on each board. It wont get any tighter. It is in the right direction, you can tell from the traces it has to go one way.
- Used a paper clip and held it against all 3 pins on EXC5 to short it out.
- I used my multimeter to verify continuity on the jumpers to make sure they are correct.

I'm out of ideas, any suggestions??

Post pictures of it installed please. It can only be a problem with the interconnect or program rom pcb at this point.

some pictures of it installed.

Out of curiosity, would a SCSI cable work in replacement of the interconnect board?

so um...i turned it on tonight and it works. Must not have been done suiciding itself even though i tried shorting exc5 many many times.

I knew i wasnt crazy and everything was assembled correctly.

damn.... So what could i be doing wrong? I tried with a second board already, still getting the reddish screen or black.... I'm glad to see you're works, but which revision did you get?

you might need to try shorting exc1 and exc5. I ended up removing both of those capacitors as I was having issues with my board re suiciding.

exc5 wasnt enough for me i also did the cap below where the battery is forgot what its called. After working a couple days i had to short everything a second time for it to work again

mine keeps going back to the brownish screen problem. Makes it hard to put it in a case if i have to keep reshorting caps. So exc1 and exc5 are safe to just remove??

I wouldn't say 'safe' but I haven't had any issues.

anyone else have any input before i remove the 2? This is really frustrating me why it works for a bit then the brown screen again.

lucky you that got yours to work. I'm still trying to schedule time with Tetsuosan to see if the kit is working out not.
