There are portions of populations there with really really strong feelings about Japan (no comment on justified or not as it's not my business)

Only from the Asia versions which would be in these locations as the move sounds are typically shouting stuff in Japanese. I mean I don't know for sure but it seems the likely reason. There's a history of this in arcade releases for non-Japan Asian region versions.so because of strong sentiments against japan, capcom removed move sounds out of their game ?
thanks for explanation , I never thought this was linked to political stuff. Always assumed Capcom was trying to save on storage space by removing these sounds in Asian markets lol.Only from the Asia versions which would be in these locations as the move sounds are typically shouting stuff in Japanese. EDIT: I think the people playing the games know full well it's Japanese and don't care, I think it's more to avoid trouble from randoms who don't really get the context. Maybe also to protect arcade operators who may become targeted the way Japanese owned stores, etc. are when there are demonstrations.
They're still there and can be re-enabled in the SFIII games by going to the "voice type" setting:thanks for explanation , I never thought this was linked to political stuff. Always assumed Capcom was trying to save on storage space by removing these sounds in Asian markets lol.
