Project Goal: Ingest an English translation script directly into the Japanese parent ROMs while retaining all Japanese-exclusive game states, character behaviors, and regional mechanical balances.
Technical Specifications Required:
- Font Palette Swap: Replace the standard 8x8 and 16x16 Japanese font asset tiles in the graphic ROM banks with an English character set while adhering to Capcom’s native tile alignment boundaries.
- Continue Screen Tips Pointer Redirection: Translate and properly align the Japanese "Game Over / Continue" strategy screens. The Western releases entirely removed these tactical tips (e.g., instructing the player on how to counter charging characters or specific move properties). The text strings must be updated without breaking the transition timers.
- Japanese Context Win Quotes: Translate the original text pointers for the post-match win quotes. Do not copy-paste the Western localized script (which completely altered character personalities); the translation must reflect the original Japanese dialogue strings.
- Name / Sprite Consistency: Retain the original Japanese character names (Vega = Boxer, Balrog = Claw, M. Bison = Dictator) alongside the Japanese character portrait assets to prevent graphic layout glitches.
