Finally I've been able to spend some time on this project, got a MS2934 chassis w/o remote, only remote available for purchase around I could find was pxlmod MS9-29, they look similar enough so began to research the differences in order to convert it.
Here are the steps:
PXLMod MS9-29 remote -> MS-2932/34 remote
Only remaining difference I didn't change: R, G, B and brightness pots are 4.7k instead of 3.3k, but didn't seem to make a difference.
Tried it and works perfectly. Here's how it looks after:
And these would be the steps if converting an original remote for some reason, same but less steps because the pxlmod remote is a bit different than stock MS9-29 for some reason:
MS9-29 remote -> MS-2932/34 remote
Attached are the schematics of MS-2932/34 remote I drew to find differences
Here are the steps:
PXLMod MS9-29 remote -> MS-2932/34 remote
- Join SW280 GND to middle pin, so pin 7 will become GND, while pin 4 (S/S in MS9, NC in MS2932) remains unused
- Color Gain (R, G, B):
- Replace R282, R284, R286 (3.9k) with 4.7k resistors
- Replace R281, R283, R285 (10k) with 6.8k resistors
- HSize:
- Replace R291 (8.2k) with 470k resistor
- Replace diodes with 0.6v drop ones (comes with 0.3v drop ones). 1N4148 / DAN217 / BAV99 are fine
- Contrast:
- Remove C281 (100nF). Install a 150nF one in C282 (originally unpopulated) place
Maybe it isn't necessary to change all those components, but didn't want to experiment this time, just wanted to make the remote as similar as possible to the MS2932/34 one.
