They don't. I think only Midway boards require -5vdc.

There are others that need -5 such as Atari, some Taito etc
But no. CPS1 doesn't need -5

As stated unless the PCB is older/Golden Age or made by Midway chances are you do NOT need -5v.
Also I want to say Midway PCBs will still function/boot without it, but sound will not work (IDK if this is universally true however or just MK).

Thanks all, mainly looking at adding a Sega Titan and CPS1 to the cabinet. So should all be good.

In JAMMA I remember Kiki Kaikai does need -5V, so as Raiden 1, Taito System H, etc.

99% of the time -5V is used for SOUND only. So if you plug a board in... and get no sound, then you probibly need -5V. You can also look at the Jamma finger and see if the -5V pin goes to anything or not.

It's incredibly short, and for instance none of the 3 types of hardware I mentioned is listed.
