Hi Folks,

Looking to get a Triforce so I can play Mario Kart GP - and the question I have is that if I get a "type 1" Triforce (has space for a NetDIMM) and use the NetDIMM off my Naomi, am I good? Does that make it a Type-3 capable of playing MarioKart 1/3?

TriForce type 1 use DIMM same way than Naomi, with a GD-ROM drive (or netboot). Triforce Type 3 has an integrated media board, and can use GD-ROM, Netboot, or internal CF.
Mario Kart 1 and 2 (I don't know a 3rd) only work on type 3. They use a specific forcefeedback board and wheel, so no FFB on another Sega cabinet (except on Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 1 + 2, use same Namco parts just lacking camera).

Thanks @Gakman - that is what I thought, just wanted to make absolutely sure. I am surprised that there are zero reasonably priced TriForce type 3's for sale right now - but I will keep looking!

Matt

Mario Kart and F-Zero limitations are the reasons why type 1 is cheap and type 3 is so expensive...

yeah - there are two type 1's up on ebay right now, and not a single type 3. I am sure they are more expensive, but I just don't see any out there right now for me to even haggle about :)

I know this game, but totally different hardware. I must have written "I don't know a 3rd on this system". :D
