Questions for Namco Noir owners

Hi guys,

I'm a happy Noir owner for a while, and I have a couple of things I'd like to fix/improve, so I'm asking you guys for help:
1) Currently, the Banapassport reader is disconnected and I have this short connector lying around under the the coin slot metal plate. 2) The led strip inside the CP is almost dead, only a couple of lights actually light up. Is there a way to fix it or can I buy somewhere a "plug and play" spare part to replace it?

1. Banapassport only has lighting activity if connected to namco hardware. Wireing up some leds on your own may be a better route there.

2. I am guessing it is filthy with soda goo. Each time i work on these i put these in the dishwasher and clean them. Unfortunately i dont have the part # for the surface mount led

Soda goo is exactly my problem! I tried to clean the leds, but with no good result (lights still won’t work)
But... I’m not sure I got it right: you put the led panel in the dishwasher??

it will be clean but it won’t fix the LED’s they are dead and need replacing, I need to do the same I have about4 left lit up on mine.

I will try to have a look this weekend and Id them.

It would be great if someone could make a guide for dummies like me about how to replace the dead leds (or even better, where to find a full replacement )

Everyone here is a dummy about something or another. What makes this place special, is that more often than not, when information isn't available, someone steps up, puzzles through the muck, and tries to find a way to figure it out, and shares that info with the group.

So yes...it would be great if someone could make a guide, or share the info....but that also means its your chance to shine, by being the one to learn, and share said info! That's how this place continues to grow!

I have the exact same problem as well!
I have a tekken 7r2 and ttt2 so I have the hardware. Just want to hook it up so I can have it light up as well.

I removed one of the led panels today in the instruction space there are two in total. Each led panel is fed by 24 volts dc and each panel consists of 20 surface mounted leds in 4 groups of 5.

Will post some pics tomorrow.

sorry been a bit delayed.

ok first picture 1385 has the special cable for es1 and es3 computers it convert from the computer to the standard 7 pin that goes red 7 pin plug that goes to the banapassport reader.

second picture 1386 is the cable needed for the system 357 and 369. it uses the same 7 pin cable that goes to the red 7 pin plug that goes to the banapassport reader or player 1 tekker 6/br card reader. also it has a 8 pin plug cable that a blue 7 pin plug which goes to the player 2 tekken 6/br card reader unit.

So I assume the broken leds must be unsoldered and replaced with new ones. Is this correct? Maybe it could be easier to replace the whole panel if I could find find something similar...

the led are common component we should at some point be able to figure out the vender. i had breaks on the solder of mine i just had to jumper test over bad ones to figure out the good ones. there are 4 seperate chains of 5 (dont remember exact quantity) led each. if one led in a chain goes bad as a open circuit all the ones after the open turn off. if it goes bad as a short the bad one may or may not stay lit but all the others in the chain will stay lit. just one note if the last led goes bad in a chain it will look visibally like a short in an unlit situation.

I would think it’s easier to replace the surface mounted leds, they are in series as Rocket has mentioned above 4 x 5 LEDs with a 180 ohm resister in series with each group.
