After discovering the fun of being able to order finished PCBs from China I was looking for interesting open source PCBs to order at the same time:

An Amiga 1200 replacement PCB. Uploading the gerber files to jlcpcb gives me a quote of £66.50 with £9.74 for shipping for 5... That is with ENIG gold surface, it's cheaper with HASL surface.

Apple II rev 0 motherboard. This used to be available as a kit, but now you can get the gerber files. You need to rename the layers to what is expected by their uploading tool. This would be £49.72 for 5, with £10.91 for shipping.

Ok, this is how the Apple II motherboard looks like (front and back):

And this is how the board looks like with all sockets and (most) passives populated... I've got most of the logic chips, except for a handful of bus drivers that are out of production and memory.

I've had my eye on one of those Chucky Hertell Amiga 1200 recreation boards for a while - I'd love to replace my battered-and-bodged A1200 PCB with one. But the amount of work it would take to desolder the chipset components off my old board, transplant them over to the new board, and then solder fresh passive components into the new board as well means that it's not a project I can tackle anytime soon.

Let us know how it works out for you.

I am in the same boat... I think the ReAmiga board is cool, but my "normal" 1200 still works fine. I am tempted to order a set, but I won't have time to assemble it anytime soon.

The Apple 2 was quite fun to do so far, though. I did the sockets and slot connectors on one Saturday morning, and most of the passives in an evening.

So, I finally had time to test the board. It took a while to get all parts, especially the obsolete parts from eBay:

I already found that my ROM adaptors are too high to install cards at the same time... I do plan to install a firmware/language card anyway, and I should be able to remove the ROMs at that point.

Holding my breath, plugging in power and I do get a picture! Checking the voltages are fine as well. No hot chips! Yay! Though no reaction to the reset, and this looks like graphics?

Pulling the chip that provides the text mode signal forces text mode, which shows that my character generator adaptor works! So most of the video circuit seems to actually do stuff.

Annoyingly my scope is in another country, so I'll have to read through the schematics and work out how I can debug things with a voltmeter... Still an exciting result so far! A black screen or short circuits would've been depressing.

Looking good!

I'd love to build a replacement A2000 or A4000 motheroard, they look so awesome in red or blue, maybe one day when i have enough time!

Just saw on Hackaday that there is an A2000 now:

Tempting... I may get one.

There are A4000 as well:

I did actually get this combination of A4000 boards made, but never found time to assemble one... I have one extra if you're interested. ;) I may just frame them for my office.

Daaaaamn!

That's almost a board for every amiga of consequence now! :D

I wonder if anyone will do the CDTV but with a standard CD drive and oled front panel, hey we can dream right :D

I was actually watching an RMC video about CDTV and thought that would be cool... not sure if suitable cases are available, though. Though maybe CD32 would be a better idea?

Yeah the CD32 is arguably easier to expand as its basically a 1200 with CD drive, I do own both but new boards would be awesome!
