Can anyone recommend some ATX PSUs to power Naomi GD+Netboot as well as JAMMA boards in a Blast City?

I don't want to OVERbuy. The guy on ebay making my Blast City-ATX adapter says 800W but that seems crazy high. Thx!

Wattage is not a problem, really. PSUs will use its output on demand so it's fine to have leverage. Imho you normally want first and foremost the most efficient PSU as possible (platinum/gold...) with the most wattage you find affordable.

You're going to want a PSU with at least 8A of capacity on the 3.3V rail and 10A on the 5V rail. 12V doesn't matter quite as much, so 1-2A will be fine on that front. The NAOMI does draw about 50-75% of these ratings but you never want to fully load your PSU's capacity the entire time. Aiming for around 60-70% load is ideal for stability and longevity.

I would recommend selecting a PSU manufacturer that has a good reputation for quality and reliability. If you check the specifications it will list the maximum power draw for that DC power rail.

For example: https://seasonic.com/core-gx-atx-3-2024/#specifications - You can check the power output section of this page on Seasonic's website and they list the power output capabilities for each DC power rail in their power supply.

This one I linked would be a good choice. It will have the load around 40-50% which means the power supply should be perfectly fine.

Also remember that 80+ logos are NOT an indicator of quality - They are merely certification that a power supply hits a certain efficiency target under very specific testing conditions.

Hope this helps!

you don't have the blast original PSU?

Thanks for the link. I have a couple other threads on here detailing my woes . And irepairesega Ken told me they didn't even service candy Cab psus and they're pretty unreliable unless super freshly capped .

I recapped my original and also sent it out for repair and it's still broke (blowing its fuse). And the replacement I got on eBay weren't fine and then two weeks later was also dead

It's been pretty annoying an expensive and time-consuming figuring out what other psus are compatible with my blast , so this looks like the best future-proof option. I really like learning and tinkering but at least right now I don't have time , have to use my limited tinkering time for wiring stuff together and things I can't pay someone else to do ;p

There's an international eBay seller who makes a bunch of adapter harnesses for model 3 etc to ATX , so I just asked if he had anything compatible, and he's just going to make one that he will then also sell on his eBay store .

Thx above too for the PSU range ! You guys are all HUGE helps !

These naomi/atx adapters are really straightforward to do. I would actually encourage you to get decent crimping tools and do the cabling yourself if you had time.

I have a working Blast psu for sale. I have it listed on here

Yeah I know, I usually encourage people to make stuff as well depending on their time .

I enjoy making stuff but not harnesses anymore lol but yeah I have all the Amp connectors and everything , and I wire my machines for versatility and multiple CPs . I got a USA world Series CP i had to adapt to my blast City and it was so much time and looking up shit.

I actually do Videogame entertainment as a business , and I could work on this stuff all day, but I need to bring in more $$ lol so trying to focus on that during the days.

Basically I think it's ALWAYS helpful to know HOW to make something with arcades so you can fix it ! Even if you don't have the time to do every project yourself

Naomi actually draws very little power, even with a Netdimm. It's under 20W.

Ideally you would want a PSU with adjustable +3.3V and +5V rails. There can be a significant voltage drop between the power input headers on the filter board and the cartridge pins, so you should measure voltages from designated test points on the circuits boards and adjust as needed. PC PSUs self regulate voltages and they can be hit or miss.

Never had a problem with ATX on Naomi in a public arcade (we have several Naomis powered by ATX), but ATX definitely doesn't work on Triforce for some reason.
