Released: MK2 for Wolf Unit boards

I’m only trying to test to help and go further. So I can’t work more, I give up.
Maybe someone else could help.

The Google link shows mk2wb version.
I downloaded it and burned twice with different M27C4001 and checked and verify and compared SHA between EPROM and archives : everything match.
Older version works without sound. I don’t know what is wrong with the archive or link or other…
Good luck.
Google fucked up my links. I will fix it tonight!

@Neo.raizo I have now corrected links, and removed the old version. For some reason, the link did not update correctly when i edit the post. It is now fixed. Je suis désolée, i was not very nice in my replies, i was in some very busy work meetings today, and did not focus on editing the post.

Version 3.1W is tested in the video, this one works.

You need to reburn all DCS(u2,u3,u4,u5) and the two program roms (U54/U63) only.

(In the future, if i maybe update anything in the program code, you can write U54/U63 eproms only.)

Update 3.2W is now available, restoring a wierd bug in the Spike drop fatal/easter egg, and removing a string i had put there as a reminder to myself.
Awesome job as usual.

Have you considered using the Plus roms as a base? It's hard to go back to vanilla MKII after playing Plus for several years now.

This is built from source code, so it was 'easier' to do. Still quite a job.. There's no source for plus and it would require rom patching that's out of scope.

Asure, just a question regarding rom designation. I know that the game roms from the T unit can just be transferred over to the wolf board but is there a correlation of the 2 program roms? Obviously they have altered code to run on the wolf board but is for example U63 a modified UJ12 and U54 a modified UG12 or vice versa? Reason I'm asking is because I'm wondering if an ips patch can be created from the T unit plus program roms and applied to the wolf program roms to run plus rather than vanilla.

Any thoughts on this @Asure ?

The MK2 wolf unit build is recompiled from scratch, and as a result, the code in ROM doesn't match up(or lines up) to vanilla T-Unit.
The IPS would apply the wrong patches in the wrong place. I.e. the pages in the book are shifted/misaligned, and so on.

It would take quite some work do it the way i did it for MK1 which is a true romhack. It's a possibility though, but right now my effort is concentrated on Y-Unit games.... ;)

Ah I kinda thought it might be something like that making patching not feasible. Bummer. Oh well, appreciate the insight and all the work you put into these projects. Can't wait to see what's next!

Is this still in active development? Sub-Zero's slide doesn't work on both 3.1 and 3.2 using MAME. I tried the same input on a mk2 rom and it works fine.

Thank you for your bug report!

It seems not many people played this and found the bug.. oops!

It's something i can still work on .. And in MK1 Wolf i have fixed the slide by patching the switch table it uses. I don't see a real reason it would not work in in MK2 Wolf unless i screwed up the button bits they defined. (Wolf vs. T-Unit is different..)..

(I'll have a look later this month, i am really busy with real life atm.)

That's no problem. Thank you for all your hard work! This is all I found for now. I might try and check for Fatalities next time. Thanks again, Asure!
  • Reptile's force orb (B,B,HP+LP) won't come out unless I slightly press LP after HP but on T-Unit, I can spam HP+LP and it'll come out with no problems. And since his slide uses the same input as Sub-Zero, it doesn't work as well.
  • Since I've noticed this issue, I've tried playing everyone to make sure all their moves are working properly. All of them are okay besides Sub-Zero's slide and Reptile slide and force ball.
  • While checking everyone's moves, I tried doing the Dead Pool fatality since that is always the first stage. It doesn't work with all of them.

I'm sure this is getting a lot more attention because people are using it on the new MiSTer core, thanks again for all your work!

I thought this was already released ages ago, isn't t-unit + dcs running on mister since a year or so?
I don't follow this kind of hardware, this is targeted at real boards :)
