Hey guys,

It's exactly what the topic says: I've ported NBA Jam TE SE to Midway Wolf Unit boards from scratch.

This is a preview edition, please check the the text files inside the zip for more details. A final revision with the DCS bug fixed will appear in the new year.

I wish you all a merry Christmas, and a happy new year!

Tried adding this to HBMAME, seems to run ok, afaict. Not sure which input control set to use, so chose NBA Hangtime.

Looking forward to the final 5.05 version. :)

Thanks for this! Any idea what it means if I get a screeching sound for some of the effects in mame? Or is that expected in this stage of development?

Yes, it's a problem w/ the DCS tooling mentioned in the .txt included.

Edit: No it's not. You are likely using a standard build of MAME which does not support the 5th DCS sound rom. Try @Robbbert his HBMame build should have provisions for this romset.

Asure, I'm running this on real hardware and when I do the cpu test, it gives me a U5 error. Is there some reason U5 wouldn't be read properly in the test? All the audio seems to work fine even with the error. I've reburnt the rom twice just to make sure it burned correctly.

Wow. Dude it’s an awesome! I love it!
WWF Wrestlemania needs a Plus game with 9th fighter Adam Bomb. Maybe one day the dream becomes a reality.

Do you get more than one sound bong at startup? (or in DIAG mode when testing sound board?)

I think the preview has a bad 'bong counter' and is expecting more sound roms. I'm working on an updated DCS rom set that solves a long standing bug, so i may have left the wrong 'bong counter' sound checker in there. (i've updated the bong counter in my local code already a few times ;) )

(As long a during testing, you get one bong, the whole DCS rom set is OK. The actual game code may be expecting less/more roms, but this is a development snapshot. If one bong -> ignore what you see on screen.)

It's really weird. First I got the U5 error (5 bongs in the cpu test). Then I reburned U5 thinking it might have been a bad burn, tried it again and got a U1 error, so it never got to testing the roms. Now it's back to giving the U5 error. I've linked a vid to demonstrate what it's doing.

In testing we also got the U1 error. For now you'll just have to live with it, till an update comes out. I know Asure has lots of things going on.

If it's a bug in the current build, that's fine just want to make sure something isn't wrong on my end.

Its fixed in an upcoming release.
There are more sound roms on the board so the game code reads the response too quick and the dcs section hasn't replied to us yet.

Ah good to know. Thanks Asure, looking forward to the next release!

Am I doing something wrong? I was under the impression the MK characters were still in this version but when I enter the code for Scorpion, (SCO, Jul 06) nothing happens. I haven't tried the other 3 characters tho....

I have this for scorpion in the source code:

Code:
.word 'S'-'A','C'-'A','O'-'A' ,07,05 ;50 SCORP so i guess SCO : Jul 5th or May 7th should be his code.

See also here: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/arcade/583606-nba-jam-tournament-edition/faqs/79224 for arcade codes.

Or look in https://github.com/Asure/nba-jam-tournament-edition-SE/blob/main/SELECT2.axx#L1708 line 1708 for all the codes.

It's been like this since the original code drop, here's the original code leak:

Interesting. Not sure what the hell I'm looking at BUT it seems to indicate I should be inputting 7/05 as the date, not 7/06 so I'll give that a shot and report back.

Its from the original divine scripture written by the gods at Midway, commonly referred to as "source code" that fuels my addiction into getting these games compiled and possibly up to a whole new level.

I for one think its neat you are porting them to the wolf.
Its a fairly common board and it makes a multi viable not to mention the convenience of having the desirable games in one board.

Looks like they indeed changed the codes for the MK characters ever so slightly. Using the date in the source code worked! Keep up the great work Asure, looking forward to any future updates you're gracious enough to provide.
