This may seem pretty trivial, but I have the Darksoft CPSIII kit with the UltraSIMMs, which is inside the steel case from Jasen's Customs. I would like to replace the DIP switches with something like an 8-way dial that I can simply turn. I have very basic soldering skills. If it's anything other than a direct replacement for the DIP switches though, I will probably struggle. Has anyone done this before who can offer some advice or help? I would prefer not to mess up a part that would almost certainly be impossible to replace. But at the same time, I really hate dealing with DIP switches.

it's funny you mention this because I was planning the same thing. I picked up a PT65526
https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/apem-inc/PT65526/1797079

it's expensive at about $13 per switch, but it's probably the nicest looking "coded rotary switch" with a knob.

the problem is that it doesn't have a pinout that matches normal dip switches :(
none of the other coded rotary switches I've found use a normal dip pinout either

so if we want to use it on CPS3 we'd need to make a replacement remote PCB

it's a very simple PCB to recreate and adjust for this I just haven't got around to doing it yet.

I know nothing about PCB design, but if that's something you are able to do one day, I would definitely be interested.

that didn't take long :D

Cool. Is there like a design file you wouldn't mind sharing that I could order from somewhere like PCBWay or OshPark?

Looks pretty good!

These should come standard with CPS3 Ultrasimms. Now someone please make a label/sticker for it with Selector position and game name ^^

I plan to just put a sticker on my CPS3 case, but since the PCB design was uploaded to GitHub, I assume that with the right CAD software, you could use silkscreening to add labels onto the PCB itself in really tiny text.

I was referring to just a label sticker that we can print on a vinyl paper and put it on the CPS3 case next to the switch.

anyone have a link with good original cart label scans? I could compile them together into a nice sticker.
