I have been on the fence about this for a while now. I have an arcade cabinet with a cga monitor and I've been really wanting to get a vga monitor put inside instead for a naomi setup. In all the states near me I've only managed to find vga/ trisync monitors that were 27 inches. I visited a guy with a surplus of monitors and he convinced me to pick up one of his 27 inch monitors and told me i might be able to replace the bracket inside my cab and it would fit. after driving the thing home and looking at it I'm a bit skeptical. From what I've measured the interior width of my cab and its a little less than 24 3/4" the monitor is 24 1/4" horizontally. has anyone else retro fitted a larger monitor inside a cab that had a smaller one? is this doable or should I cut my losses?

I guess I'll give it a go. what's the best kind of mounting bracket for a 27 inch? the one i have inside my cab right now is a wood square I can pull out and rotate. I was originally thinking I was going to just have 2 slabs of wood on the top and bottom. Should I go for this 4 corner square method instead that's in the video? would this allow me to rotate the screen if I wanted to?

The guy who gave me the monitor was some guy from facebook marketplace. He said he did snow blowing for a guy that distributed Incredible Technology games. He got paid in monitors and golden tee/ bowling cabinets. He didn't know much about them though. I went there thinking he had a few 25 inch vga monitors cause he said he had some. But when I got there 97% were 27" and the last 3% were cga also most of them weren't tested and there were a lot of defective ones that needed work done. He was very friendly though.

I managed to fit a Hantarex 21 inch monitor in a UK wooden Neo Geo cab, stock monitor was 19inch… I think. But I defiantly went up a size and all good.

Good luck, it’s going to be a tight fit for sure, those big monitors are heavy.
