Hello everyone, The title says it all: I have an Initial D8Infinite and now found a Sonic Racing on ebay. Was expensive for a bootleg, but cheaper than a Ringwide and no need to get 12V to run the Ringwide, so perfect for me...thats what I thought. But the game runs, the FFB not. So,any ideas what I can do? The whole system and wiring is ok, runs perfect with my Initial D. There is a 838-14592-91 Servo Board with Converter inside, the Sonic manual says Sonic has a 838-15069. - But that is similar, it just needs no Converter, same out- and inputs, right? Or am I wrong? The seller said he played the Sonic with FFB, and I trust him, sadly he sold his whole arcade and can´t check anything.
Another possibility - maybe the COM1 is wired different? The port has 9 possible outputs and the connector only 3 cables- can the RingWIDE ( I think it is a 1:1 port from the RINGWIDE-game) have another wiring?
So 2 options for me- Servoboard, altough it works with InitialD or wiring? Or is there something I oversee?
I am happy for every answer, hopefully a "pro" reads this and can help me out.
Cheers, Frank.

If ffb worked with ID6-8 than sonic racing should work with same setup.

I have had sonic all stars working on a ringedge that was running ID6AA, think only issue was dip switch setting for resolution that is set on the JVS input board.

838-14592-XX series of boards need to convert the rs232 from ringedge/wide seriel port to rs422 which the servo boards use. The ringedge/wide PC doesn't talk rs422 so converter needed.

838-15069 can do both, rs422 or rs232, by switching a jumper.

The small square board that came in dedicated ID 4/5/6/7/8 cabinets breaker out wires from com1 (rs232) and then sends rs422 converted out to servo boards to the 8 pin header CN2. If the sega converter board is faulty that a generic converter can be installed (see picture).

A answer- thank you so much.
And it is very helpfull, as I had no plan of this rs232/422 thing before I got this problem. So thank you really very much.I can use ANY converter? Thats great, they cost nothing, good to now when it should have a error with that in future.
With my actual problem it seems to be the Bootleg HDD then, when Sonic normaly should run with the same setting as ID8.
Or a dipswitch isue...-
What do you mean with JVS Input board? The 8 Dips on the Ringedge, under the key? Or do you mean other dips I oversaw and could try? Maybe I just oversaw a dip, that would be great.

Dips have nothing to do with ffb. Was video resolution. They are on ringedge jvs daughter board.
