Hello everyone, a friend of mine is trying to save one of my CRT tubes a Toshiba from an NNC (New Net City) cabinet. It sustained some damage from a screwdriver; he managed to sand it down until the gouges were gone, but the surface of the tube remains matte. Does anyone have any ideas on how to polish the tube? Thanks!
I hope he was wearing a face mask and cleaned the area: Tube glass can contain lead. You don't want to breathe that stuff. Better to do outside or in a room with ventilation to suck it out. It's fine powder in the end. If you don't get rid of it, it stays in the room, you walk around and breathe it later. Lead poisoning is no joke.
Anyway, to finish it shiny, you need clear buff like cerium oxides and big-to-small sanding pads. There are many glass polish kits on amazon.
