Sega Astro City Joystick Issue

My Astro City has developed a fault the player 1 joystick goes in all directions but not right the player 2 joystick works fine. Ive checked under the control panel all connections seem good including the ground cables and the single cables to the joysticks, can anyone recommend anything else I could check?

I had a broken trace near on of the micro switches on my LS32, you might want to check stuff like that.
Or the microswitch itself is broken, you can check continuety with a multimeter

If that stick has been around for a while, I think the easiest route is to just replace the entire stick. Japanese sticks are really nice and responsive, but they can't take a beating like American style sticks.

to avoid spending money on something you dont need, swap the sticks over and test again.
if the fault is on the other side - it's the stick.
if not - ask again and it's loom checking time - followed by potentially a JVS repair / replacement.
(if it's using JVS)
