works the same. I used this on my american naomi 2 not sure if it's the same on Japanese naomi's but it has the regular alphabet underneath the Japanese characters.

I have an American Naomi 2, so if I’m hearing you correct, in my system it will show English words so I can play? If so, I’m down to buy. Please let me know about the other games.

yeah japanese characters still show up still but underneath them will be the regular alphabet. still fully playable. Can learn some Japanese in the process

The arcade release of Typing of the Dead is Japanese only, there is no official English language version.

the game is played by displaying you Japanese words written in the western alphabet (romanji) it's also worth noting that it plays using the Japanese keyboard layout, which has some special characters in different positions from the USA keyboard. You can use any Dreamcast keyboard but the key mapping will be that of the Japanese one.

there is an ongoing project to convert this game to english: Making an English version of Typing of the Dead Arcade
