I recently picked up some Sega mahjong panels. The standard seems to be a 12 pin and 10 pin AMP/TE connector that doesn't actually plug into anything directly. (I'm sure it probably plugs into a City with a Mahjong harness or something equivalently old.)

Anyway to use a mahjong panel with a Sega JVS I/O there's a few adapter harnesses depending on your cabinet.

With a Naomi/Net City/New Net City you want harness L90-04930A. This connects the mahjong panel to the P1 controls and the 8 pin output connector.

For older Sega cabinets (Astro, Blast, Megalo) with the JAMMA JVS I/O you need two adapter harnesses.

L90-04931A connects the I/O to the cabinet. You also have to change the jumper near the 14 pin connector on the I/O to switch it to enable outputs.

Then L90-04932A connects the mahjong panel to P1 and the extra buttons connector.

This is great info. What type of panels were you using? I have the panel for the Blast City. Looking at what you have provided above, I am assuming I won’t need an adapter to connect this panel to the Blast City Amp connectors (it should just be wired for the Blast City, it wouldn’t make sense not to be) as you have indicated for the panel type you have.

The one thing I don’t know is the wiring pinout between the CN8 8 way connector on the Blast City I/O and CN3 14 way connector on my Sega JVS type B I/O.

Would you happen to know what that would be please?

After zooming in on your harness for the Blast City I/O to JVS I/O and followed the wire colours I came up with this. Hopefully it’s going to be right.

Alas, no. Input test does show that buttons are working A to H no response on the panel and when there is a response it’s not with the corresponding button. Hard to say what’s no correct right now.

For a Blast City you still need to use the L90-04932A adapter harness with the JVS IO. I don't know what uses the Mahjong panels without an adapter to be honest.

Thanks I will give it a go but it seems nuts to supply a blast city panel only to require an adapter at the AMP connectors to use it.

After following the above pinouts, I made the adapter to connect the ‘Blast City control panel’ to the Blast City AMP connectors and I am now in business.

I can only think that these were made with spare bits from previous older panels and a Blast City overlay stuck on top of it.

Thanks for posting this info, appreciated.

Do you mind posting the pinout mappings? I just got an astro city mahjong panel (seimitsu) and want to use it for some mahjong action.
