I dug out my populated ROM board for Laser Ghost. I plan on de-suiciding it by burning a new set of eproms, but I also see someone made a hack for it to use a regular 8-way joystick and buttons. Is this available to be used on real hardware? Can someone point me along wiyh some good search terms to find it and test it out? The only reference I can find to it was an old thread here on arcade-projects.

Yes, the Laser Ghost joystick hack will work on real hardware. You'll want to use 27C020 EPROMs for everything excep socket A4. Socket A4 uses one 27C100 or 27C1000 EPROM.

Have you considered picking up a System 18 Multi so you can play all of the System 18 games?

Great news then, thanks. I will get to hunting around for the hack to test it on real hardware. I am focused on fixing things from my broken pile for now (so, no multi); this Laser Ghost ROM board is going to need some new caps also. Once I find the archive of files and get them burned and tested out on a spare sys18 logic, my next step is going to be looking at the very puzzling dead logic board that was originally part of this purchase. A known working ROM board is going to be a great help (and this hack would mean a new game to play even if if I have to swap around things here and there).
