Hi.
I'm now looking to have my Virtua Fighter 1 to be a multi-fighting cab for VF1-2-3.

Usually what i do is jammatize the cabinet and then make jamma adapter for the non-jamma boards and then use a jamma switcher.
Now this time is much more complex, since the Model (1-2-3) boards are stereo and require much more power than a normal board, so using all the powers on a jamma fingerboard can be very risky.
Plus the fact that model 3 have 3,3V too, and this type of power is not going through the jamma harness.
but of course this can be done for the controls and video.

Jamma harness for that boards are not so difficult to find/build,they run with 3,3v too, but you can have it using a normal atx psu of course…
But there are two problems…

First one is the power.
Having all that power going on a jamma fingerboard could be too much.
So maybe it will be need something different regarding that part.

Second problem is the audio, since all the model boards are stereo.
So it will need something to be able to switch that too.

It will be great to have something "customized".
Otherwise i will go jammatizing the cab, and the boards, then i will have to check some solution regarding the power and the audio.

Do you have some good advice, and maybe also some hardware for me to be able to do such a thing on a complex system like this one?
I need basically a jamma switcher, but also something else to be able to switch external power too and stereo audio too.
So something that when i press start1 and start2 it switch also the power and the audio stereo…

Jamma is not the way to go in my opinion.
Why not use a Blast City loom + PSU and make looms that plug into the Blast City I/O for each game? There's a stereo amp built into the PSU and will provide all the required voltages.

With a 001 loom you could play Naomi VF4 with if it has an option to play at 15khz/24khz. If you use the later revision of the Blast City PSU then you could also play a Lindbergh in there as well, I'm not sure what the lowest resolution of VF5 is though.

Yaton has a couple of Blast City Looms up for sale, and the other looms come up from time to time.

Maybe someone else can guide you how to set things up using relays, but I think it's more hassle than it's worth. With all those systems inside the cab there will be limited space and overheating may be an issue.

Good luck anyway.

I could use NVS-4000 too, but i Always have the same problem...how to switch between games without doing it manually….
I Always do this using jamma switchers, because i can switch using P1 start + P2 start at the same time.
This time is a bit more complex because of the numerous voltages going to the model boards.
This should not be a problem in Model 1 and 2, since i'm sure they can be powered from the Jamma without any single problem, since i have various original Model2-Jamma adapters and they all have voltages going through jamma fingerboard.
The big problem here is the model3, since it require also 3,3v and this would require another psu just for that board, but this could be addressed with not much problems…
The biggest problem is that VF3 have 4 buttons, while my cab only 3.....so i should phisically modify the cab control panel to accomodate another button per player...but i don't like the idea to do another hole in my original CP.
But i could add Sonic the Fighters and Fighting Vipers if i want with no much hassle...since they are Model2 (no 3,3v) and requires only 3 buttons….
I'm studying a solution and in the meantime i'm doing the jamma harness for the boards now….
Later, when i'll do an order over JST, i'll do an adapter to transform the cab into a jamma standard cabinet, so i could have the multijamma inside it.

I know someone who has Outrun 2 and Initial D3 inside their Daytona 2 cab, they have wired a relay box inside it so when they want to swap over games they simply flick a switch and the power is diverted between the Naomi and Chihiro. I've seen the cab in person and it's such a great solution to a multigame cabinet.

I think you are on UKVac too, so here's a link to his cab:

It would be possible to do the same sort of thing with Model1 and Model2, but, it's a lot of work.
