Hi there,
i have a Raiden fighter 1 and i have a weird sound issue, seems to miss part of the sounds, music is not normal, not scratchy or what, but like missing on voice canal.
Other sound like explosion or shoot are ok.
I've tried to move the jumper (D board) and searched for cutted trace or cold solder on the Yamaha, but nothing.
If someone could have a clue.
Thanks.

I've found SPI to be very difficult system to troubleshoot.
I'm not sure what you mean about moving the "d-board" jumper, but it would be worth attempting a "reflash" of the sound program. Not sure if you can force that on the same cart or if you'd need to swap to a different game cart and then back again.

after that I'd check the sound ROMs, I can't say which ones without knowing wich Cart PCB revision you have. start with confirming good connectivity but this may require desoldering then dumping in a eprom programmer to verify the code.

Do you know what type of board you have? Single board or Seibu SPI system? Troubleshooting changes based on that aspect.

Depending on the part of the music that is missing you may either have a problem with the RAM, the YMF271, or the OKI6295 which is used for certain parts of the music. If you can get a recording that would help narrow down the possible causes.

I have a cartridge version, SXX2D don't have oki, i have the Yamaha.
By the jumper i only say the mono/stéréo jumper.

SXX2C rom sub4

that's not likely do do anything for you.

do you have another game you can swap to? failing that you can try using the SPI revive ROMs to force a reflash. https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/seibu-spi-region-changer-spi-revive.7703/

on that version the sound ROM is labeled "raiden-f_pcm2" in location U0217
No i don't have any cartridge to replace.
I think i don't have the adapter to flash the eeprom.
Where can i find the file to put in the eeprom, if i find an adapter ?

Seibu boards right back to Raiden 1 / 2 / DX have poor solder and the customs and other bits an pieces quite often need a reflow or full clean lift and resolder. Try pressing lightly on U0217 and other ics in the sound circuit. If it comes back in at some point that will be your problem.

Seibu boards are a pain so good luck

MAME
that sound ROM is not an EEPROM though, it's a Mask ROM so it can't be re-flashed, you'd need to replace the whole chip.

^This is good advice.
I've fixed graphics issues on a few SPI carts simply from bad solder on the chips that needed reflowing.

@Brakvader Based on the videos you sent me of the game it running, it sounds like you are missing some audio channels that are generated from the Yamaha chip. As @Big_P Big_p suggested a reflow of the QFP chips on the mainboard, even if they look ok at first glance, tends to fix a lot of issues. Drag soldering is worth a shot with a very fine tip.

Ok thanks, will try that, i had another with no sound at all, and was the Yamaha with a Moving leg, but in this case, i didn't saw anything with the microscope and try to Moving legs....Hope a reflow could help.
Thanks for all help.

Hi, i come here a second time to ask help, i've been suggested that it could be a amp op HS(4560D), i've tried to test them with my oscillo and found that there's 2 of us with around 2,5v and one with 5,16v on outputs.
I've compaired with my Raiden fighter 2 with the same 3 amp op, and the 3 amp op are 2,3v /2,4v only. So i've changed the one with 5v output thinking was HS, but not it.
Anyone knows what could blocked the amp op on 5v on outputs ?
