Folks, I have this CD labelled CAP-3GA0A0. The game loads up as 970930 so I am assuming its the same content as CD labelled (and already in MAME database) CAP-3GA000 but the label is different because this is a different region, probably NA? Thoughts?

Well spotted on those CD IDs. Looks like that one is dumped and 971016 is the version needed. The cart chooses the REGION but the game version comes from the CD, so we still need a CD that loads the game version 971016.

you may find out version/revision of CPS3 games from CD ring code, and that's the only visual way iirc.

Wasnt this supposed to be Asia CD though ? NoCD existed before this as well. I looked into the romset and I dnt see Asia CD Bios anywhere.

@msamiullah Asia CD is something unusual for CPS-III, so far we have dumped Asia CD BIOS from only one game - Jojo's Venture

edit: the dumped 33S Aisa cart was actually noCD and not Asia CD, so is correctly reflected in mame update.

It was dumped in April-25 and shared with MAME. Here is the conversation. So MAME was supposed to publish it as Asia CD but they did Asia NoCD by error I think. Its here

@msamiullah I'd guess it was typo in Darksoft's message, dumped BIOS actually Asia NCD, and I've added it to MAME as such.

I think becuase the cart was dead and noCD and CD carts have same label, its hard to say what bios it exactly has. (my guess)

btw just a history on these carts, I dug up my old facebook marketplace messages to find the guy from whom I bought My SF33 Asia CD kit. This guy is in Philippines and I am guessing Glover bought this carts from him as well. I saw some very rare stuff in the pictures he sent me like 5 years ago, was quite painful to realize that I passed on those at that time

Guess so for this dump I made; however, I have owned both Asia CD 3S & NoCD Asia 3S battery carts.

Both play the exact same with hard as f*ck AI; the only difference is the ability of the CD version to rewrite the version of Asia 3S with hard as f*ck AI.

I doubt it has any special AI, its hard because its set to the hardest settings, alot of Asian version of fighting games were like this. One noted one that I played alot was Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha (asian version), super hard AI but when you go settings you see the difficulty is set to the hardest mode.
