Hello!
This is the thread for my G-Lix Arcade Project

A Stand Up Vewlix-style Arcade Cabinet I will design and build during my free time

--------------------------------------------------

I want to create the whole electronic inside before thinking about how the Cabinet will look like and make sure everything is right and I don't forget anything
So starting my project with an LCD Monitor Marquee (28in/1920x360/60hz) I bought from Wisecoco
My goal is to make everything based on the length of this Marquee

[G-Lix] Update 01

Bought the Main Monitor31.5in 1440p/75hz IPS VESA-compatible from Acer
Refurbished on Ebay, directly from the manufacturer, you can save a lot by doing this on many products actually (and they are all often litterally new)

With Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 incoming, my goal with this Arcade is also to be able to play current games – and locking frame rate at 75

I specifically bought a 31.5in so it fits as close as possible the length of the Marquee
Marquee is being sold as a 28in Monitor and this new one as a 31.5in – but we all know this is the size of the diagonal
I used this website (www.displaywars.com) before buying it to make sure I know what is the exact size of the length without Bezel, so really pixel to pixel
So with a 31.5in, you get a length of 27.45in – and the Marquee has a length of 27.50in – so a very small difference of 0.05 (0.025 on each sides) for a visually perfect alignement

It also needed to be VESA compatible as this is how I will mount the monitor to the MDF panel behind

G-Lix_Logo01.png

Made a G-Lix Logo based on the Vewlix one – might not be final but I like it :joyful:
Will put this at some point on the Arcade

Monitor Resolution: 2560x1440
Marquee Resolution: 1920x360
2560 / 1920 = 1.3333 ratio difference

So If I want any content to have the same size on both screens when looking at it – Anything I create in 2560x1440 would need to be downscaled by 75% (100/1.3333=75)

[G-Lix] Update 03
--------------------------------------------------

Hi!

Update on my Arcade Cabinet Design v1
This is still Work In Progress, but I'm pretty much set on what the overall look of the G-Lix Cab should be

Inspired by Vewlix cabs, but Stand-up + a Marquee/Top that reminds the American style and some T-Molding at the Bottom
Modeled in Blender using a scene set with real scale values – this is mostly 3/4 MDF
I could export it as vector SVG but I will probably redo everything in Fusion360 as I want to have clean file for CNC

Some features :
• Cup holders
• 5-1/4" Speakers
• Functional Coin Doors (microswitches for P1/P2)
• LCD Marquee

This is about 6ft H

Looking really good man. I love projects like this.

I did not build it, but I myself bought a kraylix back in 2012 reminds me of what you are building. It's currently my steam pc cab and love it.

[G-Lix] Update 04
--------------------------------------------------

I built a 1st version of the Control Panel and also the PC I will be using
Control panel is mainly just to test the electronic and placement - using an I-PAC2 - this will evolve as I have already changed some stuff - hardware except the Joysticks (JLF-TPRG-8BYT-SK) are spare parts I had left

G-Lix_wip006.jpg

I built a powerful PC as I mainly want to play current games - I'm using BigBox for the front end - I plan on creating a custom Theme later that fits better an Arcade UI (way later)
Specs:
CPU-Intel 13th gen / GPU-3080ti
2TB Nvme for OS/BigBox/Current games
6TB for all other Mame games, console emus etc
Alpine SPE-5000 speakers + Basic Amp

I also made some custom Marquee/Theme art - I plan on doing this for many games and probably animate some of them also later and make them available

My next step is to build 2 GUN4IR Lightguns :dead: :joyful:

Hi !
Finally got my hands on the great GUN4IR system from JayBee and built a 1st Namco GunCon1 with a couple of Custom Mods to be 3D printed
It has a Rumble + Recoil + 3 Extra Buttons

Free 3D Parts I made if you want to do this DIY mod :
Solenoid Socket : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5967201
Rumble Socket : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6012495
GX16 Connector Adapter : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6040053
Fisheye Lens Adapter : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5998635

I now know pretty much everything on how to build these so I can finally go back to my actual Cabinet project
I plan on creating a custom Gun later on - TBC
