Hello AP forum. (sorry if this is the wrong section or not allowed)

Im looking for someone with knowledge with working on Sega Blast City cabs, who is willing to offer services to work on chassis of mine.Specifically Cathedral city CA.

I used to go to PNL but nowadays I hardly have any time to take my monitors/chassis out and bring to them. So pretty much looking for someone to come here and service them.

In short, I have some monitors that could either use a recap or convergence fixes? I have 5 Blast in total but really want to take a look at 2 of them.

If anyone is willing enough, feel free to DM me for more details. I can provide pictures if necessary. If I dont find anyone ,ill have to just go to PNL eventually I suppose.

@opt2not Might do housecalls? Maybe I mixed him up with someone else.

As silly as it sounds, you could just mail the chassis to PNL. No need to actually drive there. If you add up your time, gas, etc... might actually be easier to just mail them.

Let us know how it goes!

I reached out to Opt2Not, I actually know the guy. Unfortunately he prefers not to work on Blasts city chassis, which is completely understand.

I could consider mailing in the chassis but I also need some fixes on convergence a little.

I just don’t have a good track record fixing those chassis. They’re kind of a pain in the butt, and have like a billion caps.
I prefer low or dual res chassis since I’m more confident with those and had a much higher success rate.

I’ve heard PNL is hit or miss with these chassis’. But Sharp Image is apparently better at them. If you’re going to ship them out, Sharp might be your best bet.

Sharp is a good place to go. Turnaround time is fast, especially since you're in SoCal

I just do rejuvenations on my own tubes. Its pretty straight forward.

hey don't mean to hijack this thread but i am in a similar spot with my astro city nanao ms-9 29. I pulled the crt and chasis out of the cab and drove it over to John at PNL. He was busy but told me he will look it over. I previously cleaned and reflowed a fiew solder joints but saw no change. Mind you, I bought this cab not running and with some chinese pacman all in one jamma pcb installed from some rich hollywood hills home owner. I mentioned the caps leakage visible to John and he laughed. I don't know if they are going to fully recap it or just get it sorted but I'm assuming in order to get it sorted he's going to need to recap a majority of the chasis and atleast a few on the neckboard pcb. There was a ton of dust build up from years of play on the pcb.

Let me know how it goes! I haven't seen John since the fire at his last place.
