Hi everyone!
I recently bought an Soul Calibur PCB in really nice condition for a great price, and I was super excited about it—until I noticed something weird about Kilik's attack animations.
After some time, I realized that some of his animations are broken (not all of them). They look really odd, often miss, deal no damage, or register hits randomly. After trying to figure out what was wrong with the board, I decided to download the MAME emulator and the game.
I discovered that this is actually a bug in the game itself, present in all JAP/ASIA and US revisions (at least those available in MAME). The bug is finally fixed in the World revision (SOC12/VER. A2).
If you want to check whether your board has this bug, select Kilik and press the Up + B button (vertical attack). If he turns around weirdly instead of jumping and attacking, it’s the buggy version.
This bug also affects Seong Mina because she shares animations with Kilik and behaves the same way when executing attacks that are identical to Kilik’s.
