I'm blown away how good Fightcade emulation is; I'm guessing if I had runahead turned off it would be frame by frame accurate however you'd end up with more input lag then real hardware. Runahead is such a nice feature.
If the mister core is frame accurate, it will definitely replace the real thing in a live setting. We were already having that with Super Turbo, and now with the speed fixes, Mister usage is just going to increase at tournaments and meet-ups.Yeah, I find it super weird how these influencers bang on non stop about CPSIII on MiSTer. It feels like the whole 3rd strike community use Fightcade and real hardware for in person events.
A MiSTer core is just going to be for VGE and PCN to make clickbait videos about. I can't see it ever replacing the real thing in a live setting.
Probably you know that, but anyway... it's a cool custom MiSTer core which acts as a sort of remote network GPU.I'll do my best to add GroovyMAME to a comparison as for Groovy MiSTer I'll look into it too.![]()
Great comparison videos!Out of interest I tested runahead settings (Off, 1, 2) and I think overall 2 is the best option for lower input lag while still being only two frames off.
Bear in mind (not you, just a general advice) input latency comes from a long chain. Stick PCB, USB polling, GPU buffer settings, VSync, windowed, all add latency to the pile. RA does help in removing some, but you can also get small wins by just optimizing your setup, to the point that for some people with fine tuned systems RA2 might make it even "faster" (as in less latency) than original hardware.
My biggest issue with Mister is the input configuration. If the mister core is frame accurate, it will definitely replace the real thing in a live setting
