I have had this strikers 1945 board on the work bench for about 12 months and am still not smart enough to find the issue. Must have been back to it 10 times... still broken.
I originally stole some parts from it to fix something else because I wasnt smart enough to fix it. Then i reinstated those parts (because I really like strikers and its the only one I am missing in the set.
Despite this it is still doing what it originally was and that made me give up and use it for spares before. I guess i am trying to stop that from happening again.
The actual problem is really minor occasionally a sprite will flip to the total opposite side of the screen (like you just flipped the monitor 180 but its only that one sprite) then it flips back a few seconds later.
Not enough to be totally unplayable but enough that I wont play it. Their may be some other minor sprite corruption but like i said I wont play it so i cant really remember.
Then there is this strange bodge wire I cant work out on the bottom of the board. It runs from a 74F139 that is in turn connected to U3 (which i think is the sprite look up table), and it runs to the RAM next to the Psikyo 4 ROM. The original trace appears to be fine (and still connected, but not running to the same place). From memory the originsl trace runs to one of tge customs (I can re check it if anyone is as stupid as me and wants to assist).
As I am clearly not smart enough to work out why someone did that. I am too scared to remove it because if it is important i have no idea how I would reinstate it. Ok ok i could take a photo and just blindly copy the wiring if its important but it dosent help me work out WTF is up and I am getting to the point that i am pretty sure its some magic fuckery near that wire.
I guess the next step is to work out WTF is on U3 and what should be comming out of the pin the bodge wire is connected to. However to be totally honest that almost sounds like more work than this board is worth so I will no doubt procrastinate over that for another 12 months and do F all.
