Super Dragon Ball Z - Unlocking "?" characters

Is there a way to unlock "?" characters for Super Dragon Ball Z game? I watched on youtube Super Dragon Ball Z PS2 version, you can unlock a character when you defeated Cell. I did defeated Cell but there's no summoning Shenron scene when playing the game with my Namco 256 system.

No. How do I play with a card? Do I need a card reader?
