Just acquired these Super Megalo 2 projects. Hopefully I can get one of the rear projectors working. Does anyone know the kind of cables are needed for RGB SYNC?

They look like those fancy PVM style cables but idk what they're called.
Any help is appreciated. Would hate to "throw an LCD" in there.

Right now I got it playing blindy but I noticed I'm missing those cables for those small upscaler boards.

They are called BNC connectors.

If you want to run a test off your RGB device you can get use a BNC to female SCART connector on them and connect directly to them.

Other wise you can run your RGBS lines and tie video ground off your JAMMA coming off your BNC cables

How do you mean tie video off the jamma edge?
At this point, idk if either lamps work.
I just ordered some BNC cables 🤞

Well assuming your cab doesnt have BNC output terminals.

Each BNC cable has channel and shield.

You usually take the wire wrap (from the BNC wire) and tie them to pin 14 on R , G , B , and S. Sometimes you can just ground to SYNC shield. You connect 12,13,14,and "P" wires (from your JAMMA) to the other line in each BNC wire.

Rather than start a new thread...anyone on here familiar with short throw projectors? Any recommendations?
Epson make the best projectors. 3 LCD projectors are preferred due to "rainbow wheel" effect caused by DLP.

I would look into input lag before purchasing.

Your lumens determine how bright your image is going to be.

Your contrast ratio determines your color and shadow depth.

Home theater connoisseurs usually focus on High contrast ratio and I tend to go for brighter images

Your display size range is covered by any short throw projector.

4:3 projectors are common in offices and are still made today.

You probably don't need any more then XGA resolution 1024x768 unless you want to letterbox New titles

I'm pretty stoked to have mine come soon.

I'm getting a Megalo 41 so it will be fun to see your progress as well.

You need 4x BNC male to BNC male cables. (RGB and sync)
You need to use the Nanao scaler to get a image. Cables go into the scaler and into the front of the “Monitor housing behind the bottom panel.

Here is a copy of the manual in case you missed it.

Good to see you are considering this, i'd be gutting them in a heartbeat.

Projector central has a comparison mode and screen size vs throw distance calculator, will give you an idea of what brightness will be like as well. In my megalo 410's (so smaller screen) i've used BenQ MW632ST (has optical zoom), BenQ MX819ST (no optical zoom so more of a pain to position but cheaper) and a hitachi ultra short throw such as CP-A222WN.

In order to fill the screen the two BenQ projectors still need the original mirror installed so you get sufficient throw distance (keystone adjustment is essential) but the hitachi I can mount directly behind the screen no mirror and its all good.

As for how lit looks, this was a $150 projector leaning against a pile of books

Damn that looks pretty damn good. So the Hitachi doesn't need the mirror? I'm probably leaning towards that.
How did you hook up the projector to your arcade cab? How did you get rgb out to the projector? Do you notice any significant lag/input delay??

that video was using the MX819ST as a proof of concept, I later tested with the hitachi and decided to buy a heap at auction but havent done much else since.

Something like this

it's 'ultra short throw' as the flap lifts up and there is a mirror inside so you get additional throw from that, how good it is in the megalo 2 cab I don't know you'll have to take some measurments and see how much space you have then use the calculator on projector central

I fed projectors VGA signal from the namco 256. It seemed fine to me but everyone has different preferences when it comes to perceived/actual lag etc

Have a look around at projectors that are cheap and then just compare using this, note brightness at the bottom. If you can mount directly behind the screen it will make your life easier as you won't have to faff around adjusting keystone but ultimately just do what works best for you (cost/convenience/availability).

So another question, is the screen on a 410 megalo 50"?
And VGA is the only resolution you can feed to a projector? Or can we downscale to 15khz/24khz???

Megalo 410 is 41".

Resolutions/frequencies are going to be dependant on the specs of the projector they are like a TV in that regard so consult the manual first. I planned on using GBS8200's with mine so it wasn't really a concern

Hitachi CP-A222WN seems like a winner to me. Only 1" needed for a 50" screen! Unless I'm reading that wrong.

That’s amazing. 20,000 lumens! You can play that thing in a fully lit up room.
Yeah that is high as hell! But super stoked for it. I pulled the trigger on the projector linked by tiff_lee.

Thank you Buddyc for the manual, I totally overlooked it. Unfortunately, fixing the original guns would be next to impossible BUT I'll save them in case someone wants them/needs them in the future. I have 2 sets and I'm doubtful that either work. But, my BNC cables come in today in the mail so I'll be testing that. If not, next week the Hitachi projector gets here and it'll be up and running!!
