Hi, I recently got a non working super 256 for the dongle and game HDD. And when I attempted to boot the system itself, it powers on but it just sits there doing nothing whatsoever.

The little green light lights up, but nothing else, it just stays green. No video and no beeps.

I didn't have high hopes of fixing the motherboard to begin with and would assume it's some critical part of the mobo that's most likely died at some point, but is there anything that I could check or test?

Cheers.

Hi @dazzaXx - check out this thread - myself and a couple of others were able to get their super256 working again when it this issue (no video).

I did have a quick look over the board and nothing inherently seemed to be blown, unless they have internally without any visible damage.

But the thing is, I later realised that the system isn't even getting far enough to boot the dongle, no matter what dongle I put in, because I tested TC4s HDD and dongle in another system and they work. So I have a feeling it's most likely something more that's gone pop. I even swapped the dongle board to see if it was that. But no it worked fine.

So I think this ones probably done for.

You manage to hear the blue screen sounds when booting without dongle?
As I said before though, I did buy it with the thought that I couldn't fix it, if anything the parts, HDD and original dongle I can salvage and those alone are worth for what I paid for. Plus I've got another Super System 256 on the way too that works so no harm.

So, I must just have bad luck with Super 256's because the day it came, was the only day it worked, the day after it is now doing the exact same thing my already bust one is doing, literally nothing. The last thing it did was complain that a card wasnt plugged in despite there being one, a black screen, then nothing at all. Just a solid green light and the power light. I waited over a month just to get given another metal brick.

The seller did offer to send me a replacement after I opened a return request, but I have no idea how that works since its over eBay. So I guess I'll see what happens.

They sent me a replacement board instead to replace it, works fine but there seems to be some interference in the video signal, I've got wavy vertical lines scrolling through the image. But at this point I'll take a working one over a dead one.
