Hi, I have a question regarding a Taito Cup Finals to Gunlock conversion. I am experiencing sound issues. I'm not sure if I need to replace four PALs. I have a 'white board' revision. According to what I've read, to make it compatible with the Ensoniq V2, I must replace 4 PALs (specifically D29-17-1 at IC16) and set it to Ensoniq V2 mode by burning the D53-12 binary to IC17. Additionally, I believe I need to replace IC14 with the D66-09 binary and finally install the D69-12 binary at location IC29.

I'm using GAL20V8A -25LP and GAL16V8A -25LP.

I have completed all the indicated mods on the solder side (see attached photos). I am not sure if I need to replace four PALs or just two; perhaps that is where my error lies.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I made the four changes and now I only have an intermittent humming sound.... Could it be due to the memory speed? I also used the same resistor that came from the factory; according to the AI, it isn't 750 ohms. Here are the photos. I also checked the rear connections and don't see any issues.

Could it be the wrong resistor? The 25ns speed? I've attached photos of the changes

Could be the GALs speed, yes. The original PALs are 15LP

Hello friends, I have followed the step-by-step guide to convert an Orange board plus expansion into gekirindan, however I have full graphics but no audio at all. Here is the bottom and top of the board, am I missing something? Many thanks

The ENSONIQ positions should match as the mame driver says both go to offsets 0x000000 and 0x400000. That's the only probable reason of not having sound, unless in MAME driver is bad documented.

I would have to check with another board of mine to put the Gekirindan red cartridge convert I made for confirming it.

EDIT: I am seing you haven't put ENSONIQ V2 fixes. Orange boards need that fix. Normally all Hat Trick Hero boards on Orange + Expand come with ENSONIQ V2 mode done. Your board is strange. I should put the fix configuration on orange boards also
