Hi. I am experiencing this error on updating to 2011 modbios. Can someone tell me where do I have to look? I have checked every chip and TTL for flying legs

@rester159 is having the same problem with his G-NET board. He’s shipping it to me to look at but my theory is that the flash chip that holds the BIOS is bad.

What of them is it? For changing it

EDIT: I have seen MAME driver and seems to be U30 28F160. Damn chip, now I have to test it externally

Ugh, that's unfortunate. What if you program the modded BIOS to the flash chip before soldering it to the board so that the board doesn't ever have to reprogram it itself?

The info that is flashed into the 27c800 is the same when updating the 16mbit tsop?

Hi! :)

I had already had this problem of flash impossible to flash directly the new chip on my XGECU T56 LH28F160S5T-L70A, as with the chip LH28F160S3T-L10A for the Bios Naomi impossible to program directly, I really need this method because the location of the TSOP 48 and damaged ;(

you need a NOR/Flash 56-TSOP adapter instead of Flash NAND that I can't findX/

on my side I took this one and it worked in flash mode with M27C800, the jumper J1 configured and everything worked

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it

I'm going to check if it is also the PGM flash, 28F004. I assume is something related to PROGRAM flash and not anything about sound PGM.

On the G-NET it's only the sound files which are FLASHed the program runs from the CF itself.

There is no NAND only FLASH, this is from the MAME layout the pgmflash might be the sound code program ?

INTEL_E28F400B(config, "pgmflash"); // U27
INTEL_TE28F160(config, "sndflash0"); // U29
INTEL_TE28F160(config, "sndflash1"); // U55
INTEL_TE28F160(config, "sndflash2"); // U56

My bad, sorry. Yeah, PGM flash is in the YAMAHA section.

I have the feeling that there are GNET models that can't be updated externally for some reason

The board only just arrived last week. I haven’t had a chance to start on it yet.

The GNET board that was sent to me for diagnosis successfully updated its BIOS on power up and now works fine booting from generic CF cards - I didn't have to do anything except adjust the 5.0V rail and change the flash jumper.

I suspect that the board's owner was having power supply issues - these boards are touchy about having 5.0V for proper operation. The Sony baseboard also is notorious for leaking capacitors so that could be a factor as well.
