Taito Type X Incorrect GPU Error

I've bought a Taito Type X that I've been trying to get running. I've had to replace some components. I replaced the power supply, the hard drive (with Multigame installed) and the GPU. After these changes the monitor only sometimes displays an image. I most likely have to replace some caps as well. But before I do that I would like to solve the following issue:

After the startup screen, I get the error message "error, incorrect gpu" with a red background. I bought a Radeon 9600 SE off of eBay, so I'm not sure what the issue is. Can I not use any 9600 SE? Does it have to be a specific one? Or is there another issue?

Pretty sure you need to flash the Taito bios on that card.

I tried to download the GPU bios flasher from the Roundup Thread but the link doesn't work for me. Is there an updated link somewhere?

• Write image to disk
• Insert original PS2 keyboard. A USB to PS2 adapter will NOT work.
• Connect VGA screen
• See DOS boot up and feel nostalgic
• cd TTX1GPU

info:
flashrom -i

save:
flashrom -s 0 original.bin

write:
flashrom -f -p 0 9600SE.BIN

Note:
The TTX has a watchdog on the JVS MASTER card which will reset the machine after 3 minutes.
If you want to make sure that your FLASHing session is not interrupted I would remove the cables going to the JVS MASTER card.

Please save your original BIOS and share...

Hmm I updated that post last night.

Thank you very much for the update! I was able to flash the GPU and now everything works. Now I only need to replace a few caps and it will be ready to go. I just wish I could have saved the old HDD or at least make a backup, but unfortunately I don't think it's possible. Thank you both again!
