Namco 2X6 can sometimes stall during boot due to the following reasons:

- Low voltage: check your voltage under load with a multimeter on your I/O to ensure a full 5v is getting to the unit
- Drive / Disc errors: check your disc and make sure it's clean and free of fingerprints and debris. And check if there is activity on the drive (light indicating reading a disc)
- Poor security dongle connection: remove, clean with alcohol, and reseat your security dongle

The dongle reads normally and can hear five slow ding-ding-ding sounds. How do I measure the load voltage on the io board?

5V is definitely low if it's already showing 4.85V close to the PSU. If you have a multimeter, see what it is showing on the IDE power connector inside the 246.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will summarize my problems and solutions:
1. My Tekken 4 cannot run because the dongle and disc version fail to match. Because of TEF1, Ver.C, I used my multi-dongle to replace it with TEF1, Ver.D to run normally.
2. Whether your host looks new or old, the dongle interface may have poor contact and is not tight enough. You need to re-plug it or shake it up and down slightly after plugging it in.
3. If you switch from a 256 host to a 246C+, Tekken 4 will freeze on a black screen with white English letters. This is a hardware attribute shape. Even if you replace any model of optical drive, you cannot solve the problem of further reading.

Tekken 4 sucks anyway ! 😝
I love this game, when the PS2 version came out, I said no, it's too lousy on console, I would buy it on Arcade, 3 years later I bought it on Coinop Express for 300 euros with Namco system 246 B Assy

Tekken 4 doesn’t work on the 256
1. If the disc and dongle versions do not match, the screen freezes on a gray screen.

2. If the hardware does not match or the optical drive does not match, the screen freezes on the Tekken 4 startup screen and the game cannot be entered.

Hi! :)

There is only one DVD version of the original game.

If you use a low quality DVD burner, there will be a lot of read errors and crashes.:S

The original DVD player is complete crap, it has 512 KB of buffer, and with tekken 4 there is bad sync when Heihachi talks to Kazuya after he hits the soldier with the helmet camera at the end of the introduction.

Heihachi's lips continue to move as the dialogue in his voice ends X/

I opted for a NEC DVD burner with 2MB of buffer memory bought new at the time for 50 euros and burn on Sony DVD RWs in X2 to be safe.:saint:

I also recommend changing the Ribbon, it does not age well with heat, the name of this Ribbon is IDE ATA/133 Single Drive 80Wires Ribbon Cable, because take a PC Ribbon and make the hole in the key of the connector that really do Tramp.:S
