With the game/cab having scratchy audio, I think it's safe to say the factory speakers are starting to show its age. Anyone find a good drop in replacement for these speakers yet?

Hello, have you managed to find a good speaker yet? I have this issue too and was looking to replace the speakers but I’m not experienced.

Not yet. They look to be manufactured in Japan and possibly the same dimensions as those Sega Blast City speakers.

No kidding. If you find out an exact speaker please let me know.

Also, do you have any instructions on actually getting to the speaker? I have the dedicated cab that lets you change elevation and such but the manual doesn’t mention anything about getting in there. Not sure if you needed to somehow remove the metal frame or something.

if you happen to have any pictures please send them my way too!

Hey I found a solution that might interest you. I went on Amazon and grabbed a Logitech z313, a 3.5mm to rca adapter, rca cables and 2 gold plated female to female rca couplers.

Unplugged the stock rca cables, plugged the new ones in, plugged the couplers to the end of the cables, other end into the 3.5 adapter that also goes to the new speakers and it sounds great. I took some two end stick on Velcro strips and stuck the speakers to both sides of the lifting metal for adjusting the cab height.

These speakers aren’t magnetically shielded so this kept them far enough away to be safe but close enough to sound great.

Sounds a million times better than the stock speakers and comes with a subwoofer that sits right next to the cab. If you want a tutorial I can make a YT video

That is very nice. I also found out that the factory speakers themselves were also used in various consumer CRTs. They were also known for their poor quality in general as most owners likely resorted to buying external speakers. At some point, I may find some shielded speakers.

Best of luck! Let me know what you end up getting!
