Thoughts on the BackBit Platinum cartridge?

Mine has arrived, I'll test it out this weekend. However, one issue I'm seeing right away is that it's a gloss finish and picks up fingerprints like nobodies business (and I'm sure scratches will show up more than they would otherwise). Does come with a cheap microfiber cloth though...

I actually emailed her about paying for the 3D-printed cases, and she said maybe in the future. I wonder if she would share the files so we could print our own cool cases, similar to the preview models she had.

Sucks for people with consolized MVS systems who can stare directly at it, lol.

Yeah that thing is a fingerprint magnet. It'd have been nice to get a matte style cart. I also noticed that the case doesn't really have ventilation. It just has the indentations that look like vents.

While mine is in an MV1C inside my cab the finger prints arent really a big deal, but I can see people getting up in arms about scratch marks and whatnot.

This was in the bottom of the box, so they know the shell is a problem...

Other than the shell quality, it's been doing what it was expected to do. I've loaded it up with various ROM sets from projects I've backed (YoYo Shuriken, CyborgForce, 420p Test Suite, etc) and so far everything has worked as well as could be asked.

I am thinking about getting one of these
Has anyone created a download with all games ready to go
It would be nice if the folder names were the full names
If not I may have some work to do

I’ve been using the BackBit Platinum Cart for my Neo Geo setup, and overall, I’m really impressed. The flashing speed is incredibly fast, making it feel like a more traditional flash cart compared to others I’ve used.

I also own the Darksoft MVS and NeoSD Pro carts, and honestly, each has its pros and cons. The BackBit stands out for its simplicity and quick game loading, while the others offer more advanced features like storing multiple games in memory—which could potentially help extend flash memory life.

My only minor complaints are the SD card setup process, which takes a bit of effort the first time, and the shell finish, which is a bit of a fingerprint magnet. Other than that, it’s a great piece of hardware and a solid addition to any Neo Geo fan’s collection.

Yes, our favorite .org site.

Don't forget the Backbit supports the link play function. That's an advanced feature the others don't have.

As well as being usable with the Z80 tests on the Neo Diagnostics BIOS. But it's a bit fiddly as you have to wait for the cart to boot before you can toggle it into test mode, meaning that you have to soft reset to run the tests and the soft reset on the NeoDIAG BIOS is iffy (most of the time it won't work for me for some reason).

For what it is worth, I have issues with mine on multiple MV-4 boards. I believe Alec has an MV-4F (please correct me if I'm wrong). So maybe it isn't a coincidence that my MV-2F is the board I currently use with the BackBit with no trouble. I wonder if there is still a firmware compatibility issue with the early chip set.

To answer your slot cycling question though. Once I load a game on the BackBit on the 2 slot, it will behave like that game in Slot 1 and if a real cart is in Slot 2 it will go back and forth just like it would with two real carts. The BackBit cart should always be in Slot 1.

I still plan to grab an 1B or 1C at some point to make the primary board, it seems to me like those are fully compatible.

Thanks, cycling between this cart and other OG single carts works ok? Did you have to have it in a particular slot etc?
I think you might be asking too much there. There's a known issue with Unibios 4.0 where games will have no sound if there's a multcart in slot 1. Genenerally moving the multicart such as the Backbit to slot 2 resolves that issue.

The cart plays games fine on a 4-slot, but you may have to give up the idea of cycling between slots.

I'm amazed. Yes, I have an MV-4F.
