My Type X has been getting a little love lately, and I wanted to make it a bit more quiet.

This TFX PSU from be quiet! is a direct replacement and works great, https://www.bequiet.com/en/powersupply/2314

For the CPU, I couldn't find any 70mm fans - but I did find an "Original" CoolerMaster A73 on aliexpress, also works great

Was probably for the best, as the original cooler & fan was really filthy and the CPU was covered in dry thermal paste.

Thank you for this, just ordered one for my ttx.

edit: just ordered *both* of those mods. I may still replace the fan on top of that heat sink tho.

just wondering if you could share the link to the PSU, for some reasons, I can only find weird clones or super expensive resellers

Nice, watching this thread to remind me later. I need to check if it also works with TTX2 when I have the time to crack both cases open

I've gone and done something similar.

Similar to OP, I couldn't find a decent 3 pin 70mm fan to just replace the fan on the existing CPU cooler, so I just got a cooler master A73: https://www.newegg.com/cooler-master-air-cooler-series-a73/p/13C-000X-00010 (you can find them on ebay as well)

A silverstone tx300 PSU: https://www.amazon.com/SilverStone-Technology-Computer-Connector-SST-TX300-USA/dp/B07PR7NVWX

And an 80mm noctua NF-A8 FLX 3 pin fan: https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NF-A8-FLX-Premium-Quiet/dp/B00NEMG9K6

It is now very quiet; a massive improvement over the original

Some notes:
Honestly, the original PSU really isn't very loud to begin with, and the PSU is by far the most expensive part to replace. If I was doing this again, I would definitely just leave in the original PSU and I don't think it would really end up any different in the final noise level. It feels like somewhere around ~90% of the noise is just due to the cpu cooler and exhaust fan, the PSU wasn't really a big contributor to the noise to begin with. Unfortunately I didn't really realize this until I was already in the PC with my replacement PSU purchased. For those doing this after me, definitely skip the PSU replacement to start.

The rear exhaust fan is a 3 pin 80mm fan. You may be able to find a cheaper fan that's just as quiet. With just a new cpu cooler and the new exhaust fan, it's only like $20-$30 to get the PC much quieter; would definitely recommend.
