Hey Folks!

I just acquired my first Taito Type X2 system. My goal for this set up right now is to play an original hdd of SSF4AE which I also have with security dongle.

Here's the system info that I've gathered.
Type X2
REV .00B
Pent-up 4 3.4GHz
521MB PC2 -5300U DDR Memory
ELSA GLADIAC 979 GS 256MB/N
-GD979-256EBGSN
512MB Hynix Ram

Questions/Concerns
-The unit is missing the small SATA III cable to connect tge hdd. Does it matter which SATA port on the motherboard that I connect to?

-There is a loose cable coming from the JVS board (see pic) should I connect it to the pins where it says RSVD RESET near the Front Panel Fan text?

I tried installing this in my Noir but I'm sure the Type X2 is not compatible with Namco I/O because an error msg came up and the graphics were garbled.

I'm going to install this now in my Vewlix F which has fast i/o. Will there be any issues connecting to the upgraded LG Uktra Gear monitor that I've installed in it?

And last, does it matter which slot the security dongle is inserted?

Thanks guys in advance for the advice and help!

Probably not, but you should probably connect it to the primary/first SATA connector, usually labeled 0 or 1 on the PCB silkscreen.

Yes.

Your TX2 does not appear to have a DMARC card, so I don't think you're going to be able to use FAST I/O.

AFAIK TX2 should work with a Noir I/O, try a different USB cable. Did you plug it into the USB port on the JVS controller (the expansion card)? You should not be plugging it into the USB ports on the motherboard.

And last, does it matter which slot the security dongle is inserted?

I think it'll work as long as you plug it into the motherboard, and not into the JVS card. I usually use the port right under the ethernet jack.

That dongle looks like a vanilla dongle BTW; I don't think Capcom offered upgrades for previous versions... I'd try booting that drive with no dongle plugged in. If it boots, it's a boot.

I connect the TTX2 to my cabs power, DVI to HD monitor via adapter, and connect the hdd game. This it's the same error msg and garbled screen that I had before making a couple more of the connections.

It's possible the HDD could be bad, or there could be some other unrelated hardware issue. BSODs can be hard to diagnose.

If you have a spare drive, you could try installing Niko's multi image to it, then try booting that. If it works, problem is the drive. If it doesn't work, there's a hardware issue.

Okay, I'll see if I can source an ssd or a different hdd game. I did re-seat the gpu and ram but it probably wouldn't hurt to do it again.
I'll report back with updates. Thank you kazuo!

I sourced a multi ssd. Hooked up the TX2 to a Vewlix and it began to boot but the white Taito Type X2 screen was garbled and then it went to a black with colored artifacting screen and then BSOD.

Sorry that I don't have images of this.

I just purchased a PNY GEForce 7900GS from ebay. As soon as it arrives this week, I can attempt to reflash the replacement GPU with Nico's guide.
