Does anyone have the the Unico Nova Blast?

The reason I ask is because I'm trying to find out what the size of the cabinets bezel is.

I've been thinking about getting one, removing the 26" 4:3 LCD and replacing it with a 42" 16:9 OLED monitor in a vertical orientation. My hope is the bezel will cut off the top and bottoms of the 42" OLED so that it gives the illusion that the OLED is a 4:3 screen. Then I would use my Retrotink 4k's rotation and scaling to have the image properly fit.

So while yes, it's not a CRT, it would looks like a 4:3 OLED, could extremely convincing scanlines/aperture grill from the Retrotink 4k with very minimal added latency.

Did you mean 32" 16:9 running at 4:3 to get 27ish? I run a 32" 240hz OLED in my vewlix and works amazing. Shaders look really nice and motion is better than lcd. I am currently testing shaderglass implementation of CRT beam simulator to get some really nice motion. The 4:3 is centered and most games fill the space with art or you can run shaders to do it. You can get a Chewlix for a little more than a unico if this path doesn't work.

Not exactly. So the unico uses a 26" 4:3 monitor. If you turn a 43" 16:9 monitor vertically, it will display a 4:3 image the same size as a 26" 4:3 monitor. I want to use an OLED screen, but obviously they don't make 4:3 OLED screens, so the closest way to have the appearance of a 4:3 OLED screen is to have a monitor vertical, and hide the top and bottom halves of the monitor instead the cabinet. Thus giving the appearance of a 4:3 OLED monitor, even though it really isn't.

Oh I gotcha, vertical mount with a horizontal usage. On 32" 16:9 using 4:3 in whatever rotation you are using will be around 26-27" if you stay in horizontal or vertical. That seems like a lot of work to be honest when vewlix, noir, etc are out there and can be mounted with a 32" and get the same viewable area that you want, plus play widescreen games in horizontal mode when you want to, including new fighting games, shmups, etc. I originally only got a vewlix for vertical games but when I rotated it I found I actually play a lot of modern games on the cabinet. I ordered a second vewlix, so I can keep one in horizontal and one in vertical permanently.

I used to have a Viewlix Diamond Black but sold it when I moved. It's an amazing cabinet, and I've thought about going back down that route, however.... the other reason I'm specifically looking at the Unico is the weight and it's physical size. I can fit a Unico and move it by myself into the back of my SUV. A Viewlix I wouldn't be able to do that with.... why is doing that important? Because I run a local FGC tournament in Massachusetts, and being able to roll out a cabinet would be hellla cool.

Yeah that makes sense for portability! Good luck with it :)
