Updating a Triforce Type 3 to use CF cards, tutorial

It probably has Mario Kart in it inside a cartridge, right?

the REAL WTF thrill exploit, would be to update a CF with Fzero MONSTER RIDE , >to adapt in a Cycraft dynamic arcade.

there were only 2 incredibly rare Nand in the world (kuwait & france), but since last year, there's a dump of iso (who succeeded to make the dump ?, talking to the english seller : Andygeezer , ( i've been the scout middleman to the fortunate french one... long weird story), that doesnt seem to be one of them),

so there's a way since last year (but perhaps trouble with a custom chip for Cycraft movements) .... nobody attempted to test it ?!

Yes, it has. But I was trying to update it for using CF cards, but being this the NAMCO media board with only NAND support, I have to exit the room silently

I wish someone clever could figure out how to rewrite the NAND carts. It should be doable, that's why the SD card slot is there for.

The problem with the NAND carts is that the NAND chips are long past their expected lifetime. Not too long I helped some people moving from Triforce NAND to DIMM. Of course that required several new Triforce units.

Bit late on this one but would anyone happen to know the name of the connector and pins used to make the cable to power the cf adapter?

I saw a thread talking about compatibility of cf cards mainly on Naomi but nothing about speed. Cards I usually use for Naomi I found painfully slow on Triforce taking 3.30 - 4 minutes to load Mario Kart GP from card to ram. While going through my stack of random used cards to see which worked and which didn't I came across an 'Industrial Grade' one.

I didn't think it would make much if any difference but it made a HUGE difference, going from nearly 4 minutes to 1 minute 45 seconds! I haven't had a chance to try it on Naomi yet, it might not make a difference on Naomi but it's worth getting better cards for Triforce and most likely Chihiro. This must be faster than netbooting? less hassle too.

I couldn't find any other cards the same sadly but I picked up another cheap CF card with Industrial Grade on it and this one was even faster at 1 minute 15 seconds!.

@Ace` , when I was working on gcfi I discovered the same as you have.

From memory it's because the Triforce and Chihiro can use DMA whereas the NAOMI cannot.

I remember doing a test with House of the Dead 3 on Chihiro with industrial CF versus netbooting and the CF was faster and as you pointed out much less hassle.
