i read somewhere but forgot where it is, Andy said you can use sd to ide adapter to spoof the serial number protection on some games, in this case, i currently repairing battle gear 2 game of taito type zero, trying to replace the hdd with sdcard. so i bought most recent adapter like this :
i have dumped the rom, then try modify the model first. but test showed another result. instead of showing my modified model string, it showed :
"FC-1307 SD to CF Adapter BOOT BACKUP V2". and later i found that the serial number might actually randomized selection of some value. everytime i power on again the adapter, the serial number changed. since i got a bit stuck here, i hope i can get some help here.
